Lan-Fan is a fictional character in the Dragon Ball manga series by Akira Toriyama. Lan-Fan makes her debut in chapter 35, published in the 1985 #35 issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump.
Biography
When the finalists for the 21st Tenka'ichi Budōkai gather before the competition begins, Jackie Chun approaches Lan-Fan and tries to talk to her. She ignores him, but then he tries to ask the announcer if he can fight her. The announcer angrily tells him no. Lan-Fan draws #6, pitting her against Namu in the third match.[1][2]
Name
Lan-Fan's name comes from ランファン (ranfan), a Japanese abbreviation for "lingerie and foundation (garments)", an apparel marketing term.
When I was working in an advertising company, female underwear was called 'Ran-Fan'. This comes from an abbreviation of 'Lingerie and Foundation'. The character has that sort of image.

Lan-Fan is voiced by Yōko Kawanami, who later voiced Bulma's Mom in Dragon Ball Z and parts of Dragon Ball Kai. In the Funimation English dub, Lan-Fan is voiced by Laura Bailey, best known as the voice of young Trunks.
