Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku II is an action role-playing game developed by Webfoot Technologies and published by Atari for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance and originally released 17 June 2003 in America, 01 August 2003 in Europe, and 23 July 2004 in Japan.

The Legacy of Goku II was the second game in a line of action role-playing games developed by Webfoot for the franchise, with Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku releasing the previous year and Dragon Ball Z: Buu's Fury in 2004.

Gameplay

The Legacy of Goku II, like its predecessor, is a top-down Action-RPG game. Combat is handled in real-time, with characters able to move freely and attack in the overworld during battle. Defeating enemies and completing quests nets experience points, which are used to level up the characters. Leveling up characters will increase various stats such as their maximum health-points, their strength and their endurance.

A number of additions have been made since The Legacy of Goku. There are now multiple playable characters available, each with their own unique attacks. Damage output is now clearly represented to the player in the form of numerical digits above the enemies heads. Characters with transformations can also transform now, given the transformation has been unlocked. Transforming grants the player buffs to their stats, such as increased strength and speed.

The Legacy of Goku II also introduces an overworld map, which allows players to fly to different locations in the game.

Story

Trunks mourns for Gohan in the opening segment of the game.

The Legacy of Goku II directly continues the story of its predecesor Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku, adapting the story of the Dragon Ball Z television series starting from the beginning of the Android Arc and ending at the final battle with Cell.

The game opens with a short segment detailing the story of the future versions of Trunks and Gohan from the respective television special.

Coola from Dragon Ball Z Movie 5 and 6 also makes an appearance as an optional boss fight on New Planet Namek.
