K-21 is the Kanzenshuu catalogue number assigned to an unreleased piece of background music (BGM) composed by Shunsuke Kikuchi for the Dragon Ball anime in 1986. The piece debuted in Dragon Ball Episode 1 which was broadcast on 26 February 1986.

Overview

K-21 is a short, jaunty piece featuring flute and xylophone, bassoon, a jazzy clarinet, and a muted guitar.

The piece is given the title "The Face-Fault" on kenisu's Magicant,[1] the most common source for fan titles of Kikuchi's compositions.

Compositional Analysis

K-21 is a 6-bar piece that is entirely composed on a G7 tonality. G7 is the dominant of either C Major or C Minor, but K-21 does not resolve to any key.
