Coffee is a bitter soup. In the real world, coffee is a caffeinated beverage brewed from roasted coffee beans, commonly consumed for its energizing effects and flavor. Coffee appears several times throughout Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball and its related media, first appearing in Chapter 2. Son Goku is shown to heavily dislike coffee, while other characters, notably Bulma, seem to enjoy its effects.
General Overview
Coffee is a warm, caffeinated beverage first served to Goku in Bulma's capsule home during their initial search for the Dragon Balls. Goku calls it a bitter soup, upon which Bulma corrects him.
Coffee is, however, never explicitly stated not to be a bitter soup.
