The Gamma Burst Flash is an attack unique to Vegeta in the Dragon Ball franchise, originally debuting in chapter 25 of the Dragon Ball Super manga series and later appearing in several video games.

General Overview

The Gamma Burst Flash is a ki blast charged and shot forward with both hands flipping horizontally from outward-facing to inward-facing on launch.

Usage

Vegeta unleashes the Gamma Burst Flash in Dragon Ball Super manga chapter 25

Having watched Merged Zamasu trounce Goku and Trunks, Vegeta powers up to Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan, kicks Goku out of Zamasu's grasp, charges up an attack as Trunks braces with Mai for cover, and unleashes the Gamma Burst Flash. The attack carves into the ground for a noticeable distance.[1]

Finally teaming up with each other, Goku and Vegeta use the Kamehameha and Gamma Burst Flash, respectively, in an attempt to take out Jiren during the Tournament of Power.[2]

Name

As with the Big Bang Attack and Final Flash, the Gamma Burst Flash is given an English name.[note 1]

Production

Toyotarō comments on the Gamma Burst Flash in the Super Dragon Ball Heroes 8th Anniversary Super Guide

Toyotarō confirms the Gamma Burst Flash is an attack of his own creation in the Super Dragon Ball Heroes 8th Anniversary Super Guide, in an answer about his favorite in-game ability, "The Ultimate Warrior Unit of the Seventh Universe":[3]

迫力があって最高。全員最強形態ですし、やっぱりベジータが僕が考えた技ガンマバーストフラッシュで最後キメてくれるので!

It has impact, it's awesome. Everyone's in their strongest form, and on top of that, Vegeta finishes things off with a Gamma Burst Flash, a technique I thought up!

Notes

  1. In Akira Toriyama's Daizenshuu 4 "Super Interview", the author notes that someone like Vegeta would name his techniques in English.
