J17A is the official catalogue number of a piece of background music (BGM) composed by Shunsuke Kikuchi for the Dragon Ball anime in 1987. The piece debuted in Dragon Ball Episode 65 which was broadcast on 10 June 1987.

Overview

J17A is a variation on the Turtle Hermit theme. It is only used once in all of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. The full composition is part a of the suite entitled "Funky Turtle Hermit", which is track #06 on both the Ongakushū record and disc #2 of the Daizenshuu. It is given the title "The Trial Of The Super Holy Water" on The Suburbs of kenisu's Magicant,[1] the most common source for fan titles of Kikuchi's compositions. The piece was assigned the Kanzenshuu catalogue number of K-325 based on its placement in the series.
