M4204EXT is the official catalogue number of a piece of background music (BGM) composed by Shunsuke Kikuchi for Dragon Ball: The Sleeping Princess in the Devil's Castle. The film premiered at Tōei Manga Matsuri on 18 July 1987.

Overview

M424EXT is the third and main iteration of the Devil's Castle theme written for Dragon Ball Movie 2. The full composition is part d of the suite entitled "The Sleeping Princess in the Devil's Castle", which is track #03 on disc #5 of the Daizenshuu.

M424EXT is given the title "The Sleeping Princess Chorus Of Doom" on The Suburbs of kenisu's Magicant,[1] the most common source for fan titles of Kikuchi's compositions. The piece was assigned the Kanzenshuu catalogue number of K-422 based on its placement in the overall series.

Many international versions of the film use an instrumental version of the piece (probably M424 without the "EXT"), perhaps in an effort to avoid any confusion that might be caused by the Japanese lyrics.[2]

M424EXT is heavily inspired by "O Fortuna", the opening and closing movement of the famous cantata Carmina Burana by Carl Orff.
