M706 is the official catalogue number of a piece of background music (BGM) arranged by Shunsuke Kikuchi for the Dragon Ball Z anime in 1989. The piece debuted in Dragon Ball Z Episode 1 which was broadcast on 26 April 1989.
Overview
M706 is the fourth BGM in Dragon Ball Z that is based on the opening song (OP) CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA. Like most BGM in that group, it is transposed to F Major from the original key of E Major.
The full composition is part b of the suite entitled "Farewell, Warriors", which is track #18 on disc #4 of the Daizenshuu and track #7 on disc #2 of the BGM Collection. The piece was assigned the Kanzenshuu catalogue number of K-722 based on its placement in the series. Though it is the sixteenth BGM in Dragon Ball Z, it is the twenty-second BGM debuting after Dragon Ball Movie 3.
M706 is given the title "Cha-La Elation (Chorus Arranged)" on The Suburbs of kenisu's Magicant,[1] the most common source for fan titles of Kikuchi's compositions.
