Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Universe Mission!! is a promotional manga series written and illustrated by Yoshitaka Nagayama, which originally ran in Shueisha's Saikyō Jump magazine from 2018 to 2020. The series adapts events from storylines original to the Super Dragon Ball Heroes arcade game.
Universe Mission initially succeeded, and later acted as a sister series to, Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Dark Demon Realm Mission!, also authored by Nagayama. Both series came to a close in the March 2020 issue of Saikyō Jump, succeeded by Nagayama's Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Big Bang Mission!!! series in the following issue.
Plot
The series adapts game-original story lines chronicling the exploits of versions of characters roughly presented as they appear in Dragon Ball Super, as opposed to the game's simultaneous original story lines focused on the Time Patrol's battle against the Dark Demon Realm. Its contents are loosely mirrored by the Super Dragon Ball Heroes promotional anime, which adapts the same game-original story lines.
History
Yoshitaka Nagayama debuted in a supplemental booklet packed in with the December 2013 issue of Saikyō Jump, with "Dragon Ball Heroes: Rookie Charisma Mission 0" depicting the daily life and "training" of Engineer Yoshito and new Battle Navigators Tsubasa and Momo-chan in a cartoony style. The Charisma Mission series eventually received its own standard serialization in Saikyō Jump beginning in the July 2014 issue, followed by the traditional story serials of Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Dark Demon Realm Mission! beginning in the September 2016 issue, Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Universe Mission!! beginning in the May 2018 issue, Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Big Bang Mission!!! beginning in the May 2020 issue[1], and Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultra God Mission!!!! beginning in the April 2022 issue.[2]
