Re: What Was Your Introduction to the Japanese Score?

1998 when DBZ started showing Sunday nights on the International Channel. It was hard as hell to go back after that.

Kelamis was only ever anywhere close to good in movie 2, but holy CRAP did he bring it for that one, and then some.

This. Every time I watch that movie and Kelamis releases that long "KAIO-KEN!" I get chills.

On the Ocean dub side of things:

Gohan's voice is perfect. No, seriously. She's ...

Thanks. Chances are I'm just basing my info from all the time I spent at DBZ Uncensored as an adolescent. Sigh. I remember those days like they were yesterday...

Well, anyway, Psaros always referred to them as the Saiya-jin Saga and the Freeza Saga, but, obviously he wasn't going by whatever ...

Christopher Sabat drops hints on Kai's dub...

I found this article on Anime News Network and they briefly discuss Kai and the early days of dubbing DBZ. This, however, is the most interesting part:

ANN|AU: Dragon Ball Kai, have you heard of that?

Chris Sabat: I have, I don't know exactly how Funimation is going to handle it, but I do know ...

I pretty much didn't miss an episode of DBZ from the first time I saw it Sunday mornings on UPN. But I remember buying the tapes of Dead Zone and World's Strongest when they came out...and being absolutely blown away. What is this...music? Why the silence? This doesn't sound like Power Rangers! This ...

Also notable that the season sets have been zoomed in much more than the original sets. Not to the point in Z where the AR is changed, butt I would consider what's missing significant. I say wait for the dragonbox.

I agree with this. Goku has no LEGS in the opening animation, and the episodes ...

I've actually always loved the orphans ep, and was beyond thrilled to find out there was more material with them that I'd never seen before. That and it actually made sense now why there was a boat in their yard... I couldn't understand why it was ok to say they were orphans 9aka no parents) but ...

I really liked it.
That's actually my favorite filler episode of the entire series. It's so unlike the rest of the show, but somehow it fits in. It's LOADS better than the episode with the orphans anyway.

As far as importance to the series, it's Piccolo Daimao and Freeza.

But the best villain is EASILY Zombie Hitler and his army of tanks.

Just finished up Disc 3 (and believe me, between work, school and ladyfriend I still manage to cram as much DBOX in there as possible)...and I will say one thing about the Dragon Box:

After watching other releases of this show for so many years, it's pretty much like watching the series for the ...

I don't understand why people have such a big problem with King Kai. Everyone says he doesn't sound like a god... but does he LOOK like a god to you? He reminds me of some sort of fish with ears and a lack of fins. (don't know why but he does).

This is actually why I don't like the majority of ...

Pricing Super Famicom games

Does anyone know the average going price for a DBZ SFC game? I have Hyper Dimension and Super Saiya Densetsu but I'm thinking of collecting more.

He also did the music for the Street Fighter and Sister Street Fighter series from the mid 70s. Identical instrumentation, chord progressions, everything.

Recording question

I've been looking through all of my DBZ BGM sets and I've noticed some of the tracks are mixed in stereo and some are just left in mono. Does anyone know why that is?

Now, granted, most of the 5 star reviews were posted before the release date as well so maybe I'm calling the kettle black here. Just because I agree with those reviews.

Technically the release date isn't until Tuesday anyway ;p

Still, it's a sad fact. Most people love to post reviews about ...

Despite the Freeza arc's...ahem...pacing problems (a snail in molasses moves faster than that), I think it'd STILL might be my favorite. Mainly because all of the characters involved are at their absolute peak and I never felt the stakes were as high after Freeza.

The Saiyan arc comes in second ...

I wasn't "whining." I was just a little frustrated at how people were bad-mouthing the release before it even came out. How are people going to find any of those "reviews" helpful if they want to buy the set? Remember, it's Amazon, not YouTube or your own personal site.

I agree with you on that ...
