Shin is still glaring at Spopovitch as he continues backstage. Videl has a bad feeling about this guy, as Erasa cheers her on from the crowd, and Shapner has no doubt she'll beat this guy easily. As they watch on from the sidelines, Killa and Jewel note how much Spopovitch has changed since the last time (he used to have hair, etc). The match is called to begin, and the crowd continues chanting "VIDEL". Backstage, Piccolo asks Shin if he might be the Dai-Kaiō, but Shin insists he is not. Kibito steps in and corrects Piccolo, saying that Shin is "Kaiōshin-''sama''". Kaiōshin asks Piccolo to please keep this quiet, for now. Piccolo is shocked to hear all this and recalls that above the four Kaiō is Dai-Kaiō, but he's heard that even further above that is the god of the Kaiō, Kaiōshin. Goku asks Piccolo if that guy said something stuck up, if so he'll go say something to him, but Piccolo freaks out and tells him not to say anything. Meanwhile, Kaiō wonders why Kaiōshin, whom even he has never met, would be on Earth.
The announcer reads off the results for those who can't see, with Yamcha noting that Goku will be fighting Vegeta. The first match will begin right right away - Kuririn vs Puntar. The announcer tells the crowd that Kuririn used to compete when he was a kid and did very well, while Puntar had competed at the previous tournament and lost by ring out in the semifinals. The little blonde girl says the man her father's fighting looks really big and strong, but Yamcha assures her that her father is the strongest in the world, of the Earthlings at least. Puntar says he won't hold back, because the Tenka'ichi Budōkai isn't a game, although then he mockingly says that tiny-geezers don't belong here, either. Kuririn sighs and thinks he won't use his full strength against this idiot.

Back in the ring, Videl kicks Spopovitch and knocks him down, but he gets back up and comes at her. She blocks his strikes, and Goku and Kuririn thinks she's doing really well. Videl hits him in the face, and then knocks him across the ring. But he still gets up again, and Goku notices something. Spopovitch runs back toward her, but Videl kicks him in the face, elbows him down, pummels him in the gut, and finally knees him in the face. He goes down, and Videl tries to catch her breath. But Spopovitch gets right back up, bleeding and grinning. Goku says that she should give up, as something is weird about him. Spopovitch then rushes at Videl and smacks her across the ring.
The match begins and Puntar starts flipping around the ring to show off that not only is he big, but he's also fast, telling Kuririn he won't be able to run away. He dares Kuririn to punch him, and so Kuririn nonchalantly punches him in the gut, smacks him across the face, and then kicks him out of the ring. The announcer is happy to see such strength again, and calls for the second match to begin - Shin vs Ma Junior. The announcer says that this is Shin's first time competing, but Ma Junior had gotten to the finals at an old Budōkai, in an incredible fight that he remembers very well. The announcer asks him not to destroy the ring (again). Some people in the crowd recognize Piccolo as one of the people in the way while Mister Satan fought Cell. Backstage, Vegeta is thinking they'll finally get to see just how great this guy's Battle Power really is.

Piccolo realizes he can't fight this person, and wonders why. "You'll know soon enough. But for now, let's make this a fun game." Piccolo is shocked his thoughts have been read, and then concedes and leaves the ring. Shin thinks, "I see. He used to be this planet's god... Somehow or other, he's beginning to sense who I am..." Shin gets the victory, and Piccolo tells Goku their difference in strength was dimensions apart. Kuririn starts to worry, since he'll have to fight him in the next round. But now for the third match - Videl vs Spopovitch. The crowd chants for Videl, and Gohan wishes her good luck. The announcer tells the crowd that Videl is Mister Satan's daughter, as well as a friend of justice who has foiled many criminals for the police. She also won the Youth Division seven years ago at the previous tournament, when she was a little girl. Spopovitch competed at the last tournament, but now he's come back and changed his image. Shin passes Spopovitch on his way backstage, and glances back at Spopovitch with grave concern.

"Kuririn and Piccolo's Fights" is the four hundred and thirty-ninth chapter of the Dragon Ball manga series by Akira Toriyama. It was first published in Japan in the 1993 #42 issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump.

Summary
