Yūji Kasai is the author and illustrator of two spin-off Dragon Ball manga series: Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Avatars!! and Dragon Ball Super Divers: Let's Super Dive!!, both originally serialized in the children's magazine Saikyō Jump produced by Shueisha.
Biography
Little is known about Yūji Kasai, including whether or not said name is a pen name. With no known social media platforms (as opposed to peers such as Toyotarō and Yoshitaka Nagayama), the only verifiable public comments from Kasai come from author introductions in collected manga volumes, as well as comments in the back of Saikyō Jump issues alongside other author comments.
Kasai has participated in public autograph sessions, however, alongside other Dragon Ball manga authors like Toyotarō.[1]

Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Avatars!!
Yūji Kasai's Dragon Ball work began with the one-shot Super Dragon Ball Heroes Side-Story: Avatar Story!! in the January 2021 issue of Saikyō Jump, which was later adapted and expanded into the full Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Avatars!! serialization beginning in the magazine's September 2021 issue, and running to completion in the October 2024 issue of the magazine. Alongside several series by Yoshitaka Nagayama in the same magazine, Avatars!! ran in support of the Super Dragon Ball Heroes card-based arcade game.
The series spanned 37 chapters and was collected into five volumes[2], which were released over the course of 2022-2024 by Shueisha.
Dragon Ball Super Divers: Let's Super Dive!!
Following the completion of Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Avatars!!, Yūji Kasai moved on to authoring and illustrating Dragon Ball Super Divers: Let's Super Dive!! beginning in the December 2024 issue of Saikyō Jump[3], a series in support of the Dragon Ball Super Divers card-based arcade game. The series is currently ongoing and receiving collected volumes.[4]
Promotional Items
Kasai contributed an autographed drawing available to select winners of a lottery at Jump Victory Carnival 2026 featuring Dragon Ball Super Divers: Let's Super Dive!!, which says "Dragon Ball is the best!!" (ドラゴンボール最高!!).[5]
Possible Erroneous Citations
An animator named Yūji Kasai but spelled out in kanji as 笠井雄司 is listed in various places (see: Anime News Network's encyclopedia) as being this same Dragon Ball manga author. This may or may not be true, but seems unlikely due to the wildly different drawing styles, genres, and completely different name spellings. That said, it is not out of the range of possibility — Osamu Kaneko does indeed go by both かねこ統 and 金子統, for example.
