K-52 is the Kanzenshuu catalogue number assigned to an unreleased piece of background music (BGM) composed by Shunsuke Kikuchi for the Dragon Ball anime in 1986. The piece debuted in Dragon Ball Episode 4 which was broadcast on 19 March 1986.

Overview

K-52 is a short transitional piece used to set up scenes or other BGM. It is given the title "Oolong Transforms" on The Suburbs of kenisu's Magicant,[1] the most common source for fan titles of Kikuchi's compositions.

Form and Analysis

K-52 begins on an F Minor chord that moves to E+ and then C7, the dominant of F Minor. The trumpet melody revolves around the fifth: C—B-C-D♭-C—B-C-D♭-C. Since it ends on the dominant, it can easily be used to set up other BGM in F Minor or F Major.
