M727 is the official catalogue number of a piece of background music (BGM) composed by Shunsuke Kikuchi for the Dragon Ball Z anime in 1989. The piece debuted in Dragon Ball Z Episode 1 which was broadcast on 26 April 1989.

Overview

M727 is the second BGM in Kikuchi's Saiyan theme group. Like all BGM in that group, the tonality centers on a G whole-tone scale with a G augmented triad (G+) functioning as the tonic chord.

The full composition is part b of the suite entitled "The Saiyans Arrive!!", which is track #6 on disc #4 of the Daizenshuu and track #8 on disc #1 of the BGM Collection. The piece was assigned the Kanzenshuu catalogue number of K-711 based on its placement in the series. Though it is the fifth BGM in Dragon Ball Z, it is the eleventh BGM debuting after Dragon Ball Movie 3.

M727 is given the title "Vegeta's Theme" on The Suburbs of kenisu's Magicant,[1] the most common source for fan titles of Kikuchi's compositions.
