"Crisis" was composed by Norihito Sumitomo for the Majin Boo arc of Dragon Ball Kai. Its Kanzenshuu catalogue number is S-204, and its track listing is #20 on the Dragon Ball Z Kai The Final Chapters original soundtrack, released digitally on 11 February 2015 in France.[1]
The track's first scene-wise usage is in Dragon Ball Z Kai Episode 99, but it was first heard on the further-condensed Japanese domestic broadcast in Dragon Ball Kai Episode 100, which premiered on 13 April 2014.
Overview
"Crisis" is used 26 times in Dragon Ball Z Kai (20 of which are mirrored in the Japanese domestic version of the arc) and 12 in Dragon Ball Super. The track's key is D minor and it is characterized by tension-building dissonance in the form of quartal harmony.
Compositional Analysis
"Crisis" is a ternary form with an introduction where the layers of the accompaniment are built. The ending is a single chord held for two full bars, followed by a bar of reverb.
