Kanzenshuu – The Podcast

Your one and only Dragon Ball podcast!

Our “weekly” podcast, then named Daizenshuu EX – The Podcast, began in November 2005 as a new way to reach out to our audience, extend that audience, and simply have fun with the franchise we love so much. Though we updated the name to Kanzenshuu – The Podcast in April 2012 with the launch of this website, we remain the best, most authoritative, entertaining, and only Dragon Ball podcast you will ever need!

Each episode, the Kanzenshuu staff discuss the latest news in the world of Dragon Ball from across the globe before heading into a core topic — whether it be an in-depth discussion of the way in which the story and franchise was produced, theories for in-universe scenarios and “What If?” scenes, interviews with those actually involved with the franchise, thorough reviews of video games or home video releases, we have you covered! We wrap things up with the month’s upcoming releases, questions from the listeners, and much more! We regularly have contests, broadcast live (watch our Twitter and Facebook!), and have a great time sharing our love of the Dragon Ball franchise with you all each and every week.

Podcast Episode #0084 — 01 July 2007

Episode #0084 of the podcast is available for download! We recorded in pieces this week, somewhat. Meri and I recorded everything but the topic, while Julian and Jeff (and to an extent [cursing at video games in the background], Andrew) joined in for the full topic discussion. This week, we did volume six of the “Manga Review of Awesomeness”. It would appear that we all enjoyed volume six more than five, but we’re not sure that Toriyama quite knows what he’s doing just yet. Listen in for more thoughts.

Then there’s the AnimeNEXT planning! You can see our schedule up above, and listen in for more details, but rest assured you do not want to miss out on the DBZ Variety Hour next Saturday at 3 pm in Panel 2. We’re going to be playing DBZ trivia gameshows, giving away tons of prizes, and so much more. In fact, everyone who shows up to the panel gets a free promo DVD! Yes!

As for the podcast episode… you know the drill. Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0084! VegettoEX and Meri discuss all sorts of strange news from the week (another Japanese idol covers the DB TV ending, “Sparking! METEOR” characters, etc.). Julian and Jeff join us for volume six of the Manga Review of Awesomeness. It seems that the story is going somewhere now, but Toriyama still isn’t quite sure how he wants the tone and pace of the overall arc to play out. AnimeNEXT is next weekend… we divulge all plans!

Podcast Episode #0083 — 24 June 2007

Episode #0083 of the podcast is available for download! This week, we took a look at our predictions for 2007, as they were proposed last December in our year-end review. Learn all about what we’ll be doing at AnimeNEXT and Otakon… including the AMV contests, game shows, prizes, and a sequel to the ever-famous “The DBZ You’ve Never Seen”…! Awesome to the max! Podcast Episode #0082 — 17 June 2007

Episode #0082 of the podcast is available for download! This week, we went with a topic idea that our forum member Kula put forth… would we watch a new “proper” dub of DBZ? To what extent would we take that interest? And would it even be worth it to make one in the first place? We hit up a wide variety of issues, including voice casts, musical scores, translations, other re-dubs that have been done in the past (Akira, Macross, etc.). This may be one of those podcast episodes that has an appeal to non-DBZ fans. If you’re looking to recommend shows to fellow otaku, this one may be worth your while to check out… I think we hit enough different topics (while still basing it off of DBZ) that other fans may find some items of interest. Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0082! VegettoEX, Meri, and Julian discuss the idea of a “proper” English dub of DBZ… would we even be interested? To what extent would we take that interest? How would something like that fit in with the rest of the domestic anime industry? Atari financial news, Top 5 Vegeta Kills, and your e-mails round out the episode.

Episode #0081 of the podcast is available for download! Just like I said! Here’s volume five of your so-called “Manga Review of Awesomeness”. We conclude out the 21st Tenka-ichi Budôkai, and move right on in to the Red Ribbon Army arc. There were definitely some interesting opinions on the transition into the new arc, so you’ll certainly want to listen in for that. Definitely check it out.

Podcast Episode #0080 — 03 June 2007

Episode #0080 of the podcast is available for download! We had to delay the so-called “Manga Review of Awesomeness (Vol. 5)” by a week due to… err… Mario Party 8 “special circumstances”. Fear not! You’ll hear it next week. In the meantime, we took a look this week at all the big news (which you can read about in the updates below), and then had a great discussion about (exclusively American?) fandom and its invented meaning and use of the Japanese word “ZENKAI” to refer to the power-up a Saiya-jin receives after recovering from near-death. Needless to say, this term appears nowhere in the original Japanese version (or reference materials, for that matter) in this type of context. We did a little explaining about the actual Japanese meanings of the word, and went from there. Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0080! VegettoEX, Meri, and Julian discuss the various items of news from the previous week, ranging from the death of ZARD, to the fusion dance featured in the new Zune commercial, to video game news, and more. We also discussed the use of the word “ZENKAI” and fandom’s “invented meaning” for the word, which we’ve seen used incorrectly for years. June’s releases and your e-mails round out the episode.

Podcast Episode #0079 — 27 May 2007

Episode #0079 of the podcast is available for download! This week, we took a look at the initial announcement of Sparking! METEOR (Budokai Tenkaichi 3). Are we excited? Should we be? I took a look back at how my excitement from Sparking! to Sparking! NEO was shattered by the final product, and speculated on whether or not it can possibly deliver. Meri explained her viewpoint on why she can’t give any less of a rat’s ass about the game, and Julian cries in defeat reminiscing on losing in a Japanese arcade to a fierce Chi-Chi-wielding foe. Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:

Podcast Episode #0078 — 20 May 2007

Episode #0078 of the podcast is available for download! We recorded the episode before the news on Sparking! METEOR broke, so you can expect a great deal of thoughts on the game on next week’s episode. Until then, check out all the rest of the news we posted about yesterday… that’s what you’ll be hearing some commentary on! We touched on Atari’s current workforce reduction, and went a little more in-depth with Shoko Nakagawa’s recent cover of the DragonBall ending theme (along with its video). Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0078! VegettoEX, Meri, and Julian discuss Atari layoffs and Shoko Nakagawa’s recent anime theme covers CD release. Why is there yet another cover of “Romantikku Ageru Yo”, and why is it a single with a music video, of all things?! We cover the arrangement of the song, its vocal performance, and its DB-homage music video. A wacky e-mail rounds out the episode!
