"The Penguin Grand Prix" is the eighth individual tankōbon volume of the Japanese manga series Dr. Slump. This volume comprises chapters 90-91 and 93-103 as originally serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump, 1981 #44 to 1981 #45 and 1981 #47 to 1982 #06. The volume was first available in print on 10 August 1982. The entire volume is printed in greyscale.

Chapter 92 was moved to the end of Volume 7 to avoid splitting up the two-part story "The Phantom-Thief Hoyoyo Gang" at the beginning of this volume. This chapter order is maintained in all subsequent collected volumes, namely the Big Volumes and the Kanzenban.

Introduction

The volume's introduction from author Akira Toriyama is printed on the front flap of the dust cover and accompanied by a small color illustration.

If you think the countryside must be nice and quiet, you are sadly mistaken. When the morning comes, the sparrows twitter. Next, the crows caw. Naturally, the chickens cluck-cluck-cluck. In the rice paddies, the frogs croak. Chirrup… those are tree frogs. Of course, the dogs bark, too. Yowwwl, goes a cat in heat. And then there's the little brats— …I mean children. Last but not least is the chug-chug-chug of the tractors. But the noisiest of all might just be the cockatiel here at home… Raaawwk!!

This volume does not omit any chapter title pages, but chapters 83-85 have new title pages replacing the Arale lookalike contest features in issues 1981 #37 to 1981 #39. These replacement title pages are used in all subsequent editions, namely the Big Volumes and the Kanzenban.

The chapter premiere dates listed below are based on the sale date of their respective issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump, which is when that issue of the magazine officially went on sale.
