"Legend 1" is the first "Digest Edition" (sōshūhen) volume of the Japanese manga series Dragon Ball, featuring the sub-title, "Hunt for the Dragon Balls Arc". This volume comprises chapters 1 thru 23 as originally serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump, 1984 #51 to 1985 #23. Recreating the chapters as they were originally serialized, each chapter included in the volume retains its original color pages and title, logo, promotional slogans and text, and next issue preview. The volume's cover illustration was originally drawn by Akira Toriyama for the cover of the series' first tankōbon volume. The insert poster included in this volume is the original large foldout poster published alongside chapter 13 in Weekly Shōnen Jump 1985 #13.
