K-46 is the Kanzenshuu catalogue number assigned to an unreleased piece of background music (BGM) composed by Shunsuke Kikuchi for the Dragon Ball anime in 1986. The piece debuted in Dragon Ball Episode 3 which was broadcast on 12 March 1986.

Overview

K-46 is given the title "Commander Red" on kenisu's Magicant,[1] the most common source for fan titles of Kikuchi's compositions.

Compositional Analysis

K-46 is a four-bar piece featuring harmon-muted trumpets that play a slow swing melody: 5-7-1-2-3 in F minor, with the 7 raised as a leading tone (E♮). This is accompanied by F minor-major seventh chords on the piano, with bassoon on F in the bass, first high, then an octave lower at the end.
