Kame House is the home of the Turtle Hermit. It is a capsule house, but it is normally situated on a small island south of the mainland. Its name is written in roman lettering on the side of the house.
General Overview
Kame House is the Turtle Hermit's house, which is located on a small island. According to Dragon Ball Episode 3, the island is situated 250 kilometers south-southeast of South City. According to the Red Ribbon Army's radar, it is located at Point ESA7024. Also, according to the data inserted into the artificial humans, it is in Southern Point F. It is situated on one of the small islands in an archipelago to the south of the continent, and when buying groceries one must go to one of the larger islands nearby. After Lunch left Kame House, the building was partially remodeled, with the rooms being made slightly wider. It is possible that is was carried to Capsule Corporation and stored there.[1]
Name
"Kame" (亀) is the Japanese word for "turtle", but it is written on the house in roman lettering along with the English word "house".
Events
Son Goku Arc
- In the manga, Kame House is first seen when Goku and Chi-Chi visit to ask the Turtle Hermit to bring the Bashō Fan to Frypan Mountain.[2]
- In the anime, Kame House is first seen when the Pilaf Gang gets a tip that the Turtle Hermit has a Dragon Ball in his possession. They search the house while the Turtle Hermit is visiting Goku and Bulma on the mainland. A crocodile is using the Turtle Hermit's lawn chair in his absence.[3]
21st Tenka'ichi Budōkai Arc

- Goku returns to Kame House to request training from the Turtle Hermit after Oolong makes his wish on the Dragon Balls.[4][5] The Turtle Hermit sends Goku on a hunt for a girl to keep him company. Kuririn arrives seeking the Turtle Hermit's training, and he joins Goku's quest.[6] Eventually they find Lunch and bring her back to Kame House.[7][8]
- The Turtle Hermit decides to take the boys to a larger island for their training. He puts Kame House in its capsule and brings it along.[9][10]

- Kame House remains on the larger island until they depart for the 21st Tenka'ichi Budōkai.[11][12]
Red Ribbon Army Arc
- Goku and Bulma travel to Kame House to ask the Turtle Hermit for a submarine so that they can find a Dragon Ball before the Red Ribbon Army gets it. Bulma trades her shrinking device for the submarine. When Kuririn and Lunch return from shopping, Kuririn says he has heard that there is pirate treasure down there where the Dragon Ball is, so he decides to accompany them, and they leave the two Dragon Balls they have already collected at Kame House. General Blue thinks that the Turtle Hermit must be the guy who invented the Dragon Radar, which is superior to their own.[13][14]
- Blue must divide his attention between the treasure-seekers and Kame House. Blue takes Company A underwater and sends Company B to Kame House with orders to take the Dragon Balls and the Turtle Hermit, who is busy using his shrinking device to try to spy on Lunch in the bathroom.[15][16] Company B circles the island and takes aim at the Turtle Hermit, and the commander tells him that he knows he is the professor who created the Dragon Radar. The Turtle Hermit and Bad Lunch easily defeat them, and the Turtle Hermit asks one of the soldiers to remove his comrades from the island.[17]
- Goku and co. return to Kame House and give the Turtle Hermit a giant diamond to make up for having lost his submarine, but Bad Lunch threatens them with a gun and takes the diamond. She hops in a helicopter and takes off, but the Turtle Hermit is sure she will be back once she sneezes. Then General Blue arrives at Kame House.[18] He ties everyone up and takes the Dragon Balls, leaving a bomb on the island to blow up once he is gone, but Good Lunch returns and unties Goku in time for him to get rid of the bomb. Goku then takes off after Blue on Kinto-Un and leaves everyone else at Kame House.[19][20]
- Goku sees a vision in a jug of water at Karin Tower. Bulma is cooking with Kuririn at Kame House. Goku speaks to her and she burns herself. (Anime only.)[21]
- At Kame House, Kuririn trains with the Turtle Hermit while Bulma works on a surveillance drone to follow Goku so they can keep up with what he is doing. Bulma tries to tell Lunch that she discovered the Turtle Hermit has been using her shrinking device to spy on them.[22] The Turtle Hermit reads dirty magazines disguised as a philosophy book when Bulma announces she has finished the new Dragon Radar, but someone is using a jamming signal to prevent the radar from working. She tinkers with it until it works.[23] Then Bulma completes work on the surveillance drone, so she sends it flying. The Turtle Hermit distracts Bulma and Lunch so that he can use the drone to spy on girls at the beach, but he ends up spying on a naked man by accident.[24] (Anime only.)

- After Goku defeats Tao Pai-Pai, he and Upa take Kinto-Un to look for the other Dragon Balls. Goku notices Bulma's surveillance drone following him. Bad Lunch thinks he is headed toward the Red Ribbon Army Headquarters, so Bulma decides to send the drone to the location of the remaining Dragon Balls to be sure. They confirm that the location is indeed Red Ribbon HQ before the drone is shot out of the sky. Fearing for Goku's safety, they decide to contact Yamcha and go help Goku. Bulma builds a phone to call Capsule Corporation, and Yamcha comes with Oolong and Pu'er to get them.[24][25] The whole gang loads up in his plane, and they depart Kame House. On the way out, they encounter Kuririn who is swimming to shore, so they pick him up too.[26][27]
Fortuneteller Crone Arc
- After Goku defeats the Red Ribbon Army, Yamcha asks the Turtle Hermit to train him, having seen how strong Goku has gotten. They all return to Kame House. Goku thinks his Dragon Radar has broken, but Bulma thinks that the final Dragon Ball must have been swallowed by a living being, which can obscure its signal. The Turtle Hermit suggests they go see his sister, the Fortuneteller Crone, to discover the location of the last ball. Bulma asks Yamcha for a plane so she can return home to Capsule Corporation. Then Yamcha, Pu'er, Goku, and Kuririn depart for Fortuneteller Crone's palace, leaving everyone else at Kame House.[28][29]
- Bulma asks the Turtle Hermit whether they can really trust the Fortuneteller Crone. He assures her that his sister has been doing this for 500 years. Bulma wonders why they did not think to ask her in the first place, but the Turtle Hermit tells her it is not that easy. He is sure that Goku and the others are having a hard time. He suggests they go out to eat. (Anime only.)[30]
- When Yamcha is losing against the Invisible Man, Kuririn tells Goku to go back to Kame House and fetch Bulma and the Turtle Hermit. Goku calls Kinto-Un and takes off.[30] In the anime, Goku goes to Kame House and finds everyone gone, but he finds them in a plane as they go to get something to eat. He breaks into the plane and grabs Bulma and the Turtle Hermit, leaving Bad Lunch to fly the plane. In the manga, he merely returns with Bulma and the Turtle Hermit hanging from either hand. They save Yamcha from the Invisible Man.[31][32]
Solo Training Arc

- While Goku is in the Demon World, the Turtle Hermit looks after Bad Lunch at Kame House, waiting for her to sneeze and go back to being Good Lunch. Then he takes Kuririn and Yamcha to the large training island, but Kame House is never shown there.[34] (Their training is briefly seen in the manga.[35]) Later, Kuririn and Yamcha are back on the little island with Kame House. Bulma is hanging around, complaining that their training is not very interesting. The Turtle Hermit shows her pictures of himself when he was younger, along with the Crane Hermit and the Inoshi Kacho. That night, Bulma is sleeping in the "Kame Room" when she has a nightmare about Goku getting stabbed by the Inoshi Kacho.[33] (Anime only.)
22nd Tenka'ichi Budōkai Arc
- At Kame House, Oolong warns everyone that they are about to miss their plane for the 22nd Tenka'ichi Budōkai. Once the Turtle Hermit is ready, he and Yamcha, Kuririn, Bulma, Oolong, and Pu'er board a boat. They are going to leave Lunch behind, but then she sneezes, becoming Bad Lunch, and demands to come with them. (Anime only.)[36]
