The seventeenth chapter of Dragon Ball Heroes: Victory Mission by Toyotarō, "Mission 17: Disciples of the Evil Dragons", was first published in Japan in the March 2014 issue of Shueisha's V-Jump magazine.
Summary
Simulations are run at the Dragon Ball Heroes Research Center until the Dragon Orb goes off. Everyone is then sent off to different Age timeframes to do battle with the Evil Dragons, with Kabra finding himself up against a Berserker-type Majin-type character in a Kaiōshin realm from long ago. Meanwhile, Beat locates Nimu, but he is not himself and demands to do battle with Beat...?!
Plot
At the Research Center, Beat and Note easily dispatch General Blue and the Pirate Robot in a simulation. Yoshito-kun congratulates them for becoming adept at using the new battle system, and Momo-chan comments that everyone seems really used to it by now. Kagyu expresses frustration at only being able to do simulations while they wait for a signal from the Evil Dragons, but Tsubasa says the best thing to do in the meantime is to gain experience for the battles to come.
Just as Tsubasa begins answering, however, the Dragon Orb receives a signal, and Tsubasa points it at a map to reveal that five Ages within the Dragon Ball Heroes world are seeing attacks from the Evil Dragons simultaneously. Having planned to tackle the Evil Dragons as a group, everyone is at a loss for what to do, but Note proposes they tackle the Dragons one-on-one. Yoshito-kun is opposed, but Froze points out that time is of the essence. Kagyu notes that with the Hero Badges Yoshito-kun gave them, they can transfer to wherever an ally is in trouble, and will not be fighting alone.
As the Dragon Ball Heroes prepare to transfer into the game, Momo-chan reminds them that their mission this time is to save Nimu, Nico, and Genom, who were carried off by the Evil Dragons. Defeating the Evil Dragons is a secondary priority. Yoshito-kun also offers three additional Hero Badges to the group to extend to Nimu, Nico and Genome once they find them. Just before the Dragon Ball Heroes depart to their respective Ages in the world of the game, a machine at the Research Center completes construction of a certain capsule, which Tsubasa throws to Beat.
Beat emerges above an ocean battlefield, to his surprise, and is immediately greeted by Nimu. Beat is ecstatic to see that Nimu is safe, but Nimu questions what Beat intended to save him from. Beat notices a Dragon Ball attached to Nimu's forehead, and Nimu states the person who gave him his current power is the "Shenlong of six stars." Nimu produces four cards and summons Artificial Human #17, Hellfighter #17, Merged Artificial Human #13, and Cell into the game. Beat refuses to fight back, maintaining that his intent is to save Nimu.
Meanwhile, Kabra has emerged in a ravaged landscape in an unrecognized battlefield. He wonders aloud where he could be, and another player startles him by announcing that the battlefield is the Kaiōshin Realm "long ago." The other player introduces himself as Salaga, the Majin Berserker-type avatar-user, and claims that since this place is where Majin Boo once fought and won against the Kaiōshin, it should make a fitting spot for the two of them as Majin avatars to battle. Kabra has no intent to fight, and pleads with Salaga to leave, as the world of Dragon Ball Heroes currently faces a crisis. Salaga ignores his warning and pushes a fight, summoning Piccolo, Majin Boo: Evil, a second Majin Boo: Evil in its Gohan-absorbed form, and Majin Boo: Pure. His shell-like helmet cracks to reveal the three-star Dragon Ball stuck to his forehead. Abra comments that he can sense evil in Salaga, and Salga asks if Abra is a Neko Majin, startling Abra.
In the ocean battlefield, Beat continues to be pushed back by Nimu's attacks without retaliating. Tsubasa, Yoshito-kun and Momo-chan contact him from the Research Center to inform him that similar energy readings to the Evil Dragons have been recorded within Nimu, leading Momo-chan to suspect Nimu is being possessed. Beat asks what he should do, and Yoshito-kun reveals that if he can pin his Hero Badge on Nimu, it should allow him to communicate directly with Nimu's heart and drive the Evil Dragon out. Beat complains about the difficulty of pinning the badge on Nimu, and Tsubasa suggests doing so immediately after scoring a K.O., as Nimu loses consciousness.
As Beat resolves to fight, Nimu and Artificial Human #13 launch a "Double" attack, flying at Beat simultaneously. Tsubasa orders Beat to use the capsule he was given earlier. As the smoke clears after Nimu and #13's attack, it appears as if #13 has plunged his arm straight through Beat.
However, only Beat's outfit was caught in the attack. Beat soon emerges from the water wearing new attire and backed by his deck of Super Saiyan Bardock, Son Gohan: GT, Super Saiyan 4 Son Goku and Gotenks: Adult. Nimu wonders if Beat has finally worked up the courage to fight, but Beat implores him not to get the wrong idea. He still intends to save Nimu, even if it means defeating him for now.

Trivia
- The "new battle system" referenced in this chapter is likely an allusion to the real-world update of the Dragon Ball Heroes arcade cabinets to feature the Evil Dragon Mission mode, which occurred shortly prior to publication. As part of the update, the arcade game received a new mission-selection interface, introduced the ability to receive help from other avatar characters during battle, and introduced Hero Badges offering various in-battle effects, all of which are featured for the first time in Victory Mission in this chapter.
- Similarly, Beat and Note's battle against General Blue and the Pirate Robot at the beginning of the chapter references the arcade game's Red Ribbon Army arc, one of the initial campaigns featured within the Evil Dragon Mission update. The battlefields Beat and Kabra emerge in also reference settings used in campaigns within the Evil Dragon Mission update.
- Beat first utilizes Gotenks: Adult in the mail-order bonus chapter featured in the Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Victory Book. However, despite the contents of the Ultimate Victory Book occurring earlier in the story, he appears not to be utilizing the same Gotenks: Adult in Chapter 17, as that Gotenks: Adult is created from merging UP3-02 (Son Goten: GT) and UP3-03 (Trunks: GT), and Beat employs a full five-card deck in Chapter 17 without room for two characters to fuse. Similarly, though he also receives UP3-01 (Son Goku: GT) in the Ultimate Victory Book, he appears not to be using it Chapter 17, as UP3-01 begins battle in Super Saiyan form, and the Son Goku: GT utilized in Chapter 17 begins battle as a Super Saiyan 4.
Setting
Beat and the others begin by training for the Evil Dragons in the Dragon Ball Heroes Research Center. After the Evil Dragons emerge, they transfer to battlefields including an unnamed ocean, and the ancient Kaiōshin Realm.
