Overview
K-9 is given the title "The Chase Is On!" on The Suburbs of kenisu's Magicant,[1] the most common source for fan titles of Kikuchi's compositions.
Form
K-9 begins with a 4-bar intro, followed by an 8-bar synth melody (in two 4-bar phrases), then a 2-bar string bridge, then a new 4-bar synth melody, the last note of which is held for an additional bar. All instruments resolve to F in a final two bars, for a total of 21 bars.
| Section | Bars | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Intro | 2 | violin tremolo 16ths on 3-2-1-2-3 etc. (i) |
| 2 | violin moves up a step diatonically to 4-3-2-3-4 etc. (vii˚) | |
| Melody 1 | 4 | synth antecedent phrase; violin intro repeats w/harmony diatonic 3rd or 4th below |
| 4 | synth consequent phrase; moves to V instead of ii˚ (half-cadence) | |
| Bridge | 2 | synth woodwinds, 8ths on V7; violins 2-3-4-5 8x in 16ths |
| Melody 2 | 4 | new synth melody; violins join and bass guitar line debuts (i-V) |
| 1 | trombone joins extended hold on the end of melody 2 (V) | |
| Final Chord | 2 | F is held for 1.5 bars (not really a chord; just octaves; everything is F) |
