Mount Kanae is an active volcano located three kilometers east of Karin Tower[1]. Mount Kanae first appears in Dragon Ball Episode 58 which debuted on Fuji TV on 15 April 1987 in Japan. It does not appear in the original Dragon Ball manga, though it is possible for the anime-only events surrounding it to have taken place in this continuity.
Overview
In Age 750[2], as the Red Ribbon Army are trying to collect the Dragon Balls, Colonel Yellow and his men try to retrieve the Four-Star Dragon Ball from Mount Kanae. When the volcano erupts, the blast sends the Dragon Ball towards the Karin Holy Land, along with heated rocks.
Bora, guardian of the Karin Holy Land and Karin Tower, shields his son Upa from the falling rocks. Upa spots the Dragon Ball and tries to pick it up, but hurts his hand as the ball is still hot from the effects of Mount Kanae's eruption. It quickly cools down enough for Bora to be able to grab it. Bora interprets Mount Kanae's eruption as a bad omen, which is possibly intended to foreshadow his impending death at the hands of the assassin Tao Pai-pai.[3]
