Re: The correct representation of the Saiyan race

The representation has evolved with time. It was easy to class them all as amoral warriors when it was just Goku and Vegeta - and I think calling them amoral, as in not really adhering to any morals, fits them best. But as we saw more of them and their culture history (significantly their enslavemen...

Re: Could you call Bulma, Chi-Chi, Launch and Videl part of the Z-Fighters?

Bulma is more vital than 90% of the Z fighters though to the Dragon Team. I adore my human fighters, but Bulma's more important than all of them, Goten, Kid Trunks, Piccolo and even Gohan these days. I respect Bulma's importance, but in that case DBS should have had her build a combat armor or some...

I would call Sailor Moon the shojo (female-centred) counterpart to Dragon Ball.

Article that compliments Goku as a father

https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-feature/2020/06/21/i-never-thought-that-id-relate-to-goku-but-here-i-am An unusual thing, but rather fitting as it's Father's Day. Basically the article says that Goku isn't a perfect dad but he's not really a failure because he does care for Gohan and tries to conn...

Re: What are people’s thoughts on how increasingly “normal” the world of Dragon Ball became?

Except it wasn't really a modern society, though. It's always been an overtly sci-fi world— filled with hover-cars, hover-bikes, capsules that can shrink larger items, futuristic buildings, artificial humans and cyborgs, and more. It was just an incredibly 80s-fied futuristic world; and 80s-fied fu...

Re: Do you think the Cyborgs should have looked more mechanical

The difference with say 18 and 17 is I am pretty sure they are altered on a cellular level. I don't think you can really give them much of a visual flair to discern that. Whereas the actual androids of 16,19, or Dr Gero they are visually mechanical That sounds like nanotechnology, or close to it. A...

Do you think the Cyborgs should have looked more mechanical

All Cyborg designs can be divided into pre-cyberpunk and post-cyberpunk. Cyberpunk itself refers to the style of using mechanical designs to create a distinctive looking lifeform that combines machinery and nature, which came into vogue around the 1990s thanks to the GHOST IN THE SHELL anime film. P...

I was basically looking at combat ability and which lady could hold their own in a fight if they were able to come out of retirement.

Could you call Bulma, Chi-Chi, Launch and Videl part of the Z-Fighters?

Technically, the only female who could be considered a legitimate member of the (loose group, let us say) Z-Fighters is Android 18, since she participated in the Tournament of Power. But what about the other prominent females in DB? Bulma is more an adventurer, and since she's rich it's just for fun...

Re: Could Launch and Nameless Namekian be two souls in one body?

The Nameless Namekian must be a fusion of souls, or in biblical terms, a legion for he is many.

Launch, I'm not so certain. If she just has DID, then it's like two parts of the same soul only both don't work together too much.

Re: Yurin's concept could a role on DB OG?

Yurin is a Japanese name . Yurin is also named after yurinchi, a Chinese chicken dish. She was okay I think, she could have done with a bit more development and maybe more time to explore what she could have given to the script: - a role of magic casting - a rival/counterpart to Chi-Chi and 18, and...

Re: Hindsight makes Frieza look like a hero for destroying the Saiyans

Modern DB as a whole has been going out of its way to change the brutal image of the Saiyans previously established in the manga. Minus pretty much changed everything we know about Goku and his father. It also shows the Saiyans being more civilized. Broly's tragic backstory was very toned down in S...

You hate the arc as portrayed in Super, as opposed to the film.

And I agree the film has the better, more streamlined version.

Not sure about Frieza, that required a Super Saiyan by prophecy.

But I think the other feats were very much possible.

Got some more choices: - Iruma-kun, a human kid taken in and raised by demons to be one of their greatest leaders. But he is almost always terrified and reluctant, because demons eat humans. https://i.pinimg.com/736x/e0/78/e1/e078e198dad2ea733fe19c9f4dd7764c.jpg - Invader Lum, a young alien/demon gi...

Re: What are people’s thoughts on how increasingly “normal” the world of Dragon Ball became?

I think it represents a noticeable shift in DB's tone. It originated as a comic fantasy with its roots in the Asian myth Journey to the West, where the world was a fantastic mix of modern society co-existing with all sorts of mystical beings (talking cats, ogres, mermaids, an afterlife, and of cours...

Cell is an monster, he may not know any better but he doesn't care.

So I doubt that even with Saiyan DNA he could qualify to be a Super Saiyan God.

Re: For Vegeta, it is much easier to attain and master Ultra Instinct now than it is for Goku

Yes, but Goku's always going to be the lucky dude who gets it first.

That's what drives Vegeta: his need to surpass Kakarot. Without it, he's just an alien prince stuck on Earth and bossed around by his wife.
