"Vegeta's Self-Confidence!" is the three hundred and seventy-sixth chapter of the Dragon Ball manga series by Akira Toriyama. It was first published in Japan in the 1992 #26 issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump.

Summary

"So, come out!!!! Come out, No. 18!!!!" Nothing happens, and Cell realizes she is not going to reveal herself. Cell decides he will destroy this island first, a big one with a city full of people on it. Cell holds out his hand, and lets out a blast that blows the entire island out of the water. Cell realizes she was not there, so he will try the next island, and keep going from there. No. 18 is worried, Cell really is destroying islands. No. 16 says his attacks are not strong enough to destroy her, but No. 18 is worried that No. 16 will not survive. No. 16 wonders why Cell is making such a big deal out of this, since there is already no one in the universe who can stop him. He supposes Cell just genuinely wants ultimate power, as Cell continues to blow up a couple more islands.

Vegeta is flying along, and decides to turn Super Saiyan along the way. No. 18 and No. 16 are rocked by an explosion, since the island next to theirs has been destroyed. No. 16 says Cell is watching for movement on the islands, and tells her to sit still. Cell prepares to destroy another island, the one No. 16 and No. 18 are on it seems, when Vegeta suddenly arrives. Cell is surprised, and Vegeta tells him to land. So, they both land on the island where the artificial humans are hiding. Cell thinks he has come here to joke about defeating him, and Vegeta says he will blow Cell to bits. He cannot believe an ugly monster like him has some of his cells. No. 18 thinks Vegeta is stupid, since he could barely do a thing against her, never mind Cell as he is now. Trunks arrives, and Cell says it will not matter how many of them gang up on him. Vegeta says he is just a spectator. "By myself, I'm enough to put you away."

The temperature changes from 50° to -40°, the atmosphere is about one fourth of the Earth’s, and the gravity is ten times that of Earth’s. Goku says they’ll start training now, and first make Gohan a Super Saiyan. Gohan thinks he might be in the way of his father’s training, but Goku says it’d be a great help to have a good opponent. Goku says he wants to surpass Super Saiyan and be stronger than anyone, but he intends for Gohan to get even stronger than that. Gohan says how in Trunks’ future he was a Super Saiyan, but still got killed by the artificial humans. Goku says it’s already way different from Trunks’s future, and besides, Gohan didn’t train here in the future. Meanwhile, Vegeta continues powering up, and everyone is amazed at his power. Vegeta is finally finished, and he is noticeably bulkier, with his hair thicker and spikier too. Cell is shocked, and then Vegeta flies forward and hits Cell hard in the gut.
