Artificial Human No. 18 is a fictional character in the Dragon Ball universe by Akira Toriyama. She is an antagonist in the latter portion of the manga before becoming a long-term supporting character in Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball Super. No. 18 was originally a human, Lazuli, who was converted into an Artificial Human by Doctor Gero as part of a plot to kill Son Goku. While powerful on her own, No. 18 was designed to integrate with Cell to help that Artificial Human reach his "Perfect" form.

Biography

A brief biography of the character. Its length should be relative to the character's involvement in the series, but brevity and conciseness is still expected.

Name

Like all of the other Artificial Humans, Doctor Gero gave No. 18 a numeric name to represent her place in the development timeline. Toriyama's idea for numbered robots may have originated in Dr. Slump Chapter 67 with Dr. Mashirito and his numbered Caramel Man creations.[3] Like Doctor Gero, Mashirito's robots were also intended for world conquest.

No. 18's name prior to becoming an Artificial Human was Lazuli, from the English name for the gemstone "Lapis Lazuli". Her brother, No. 17, was originally named Lapis.

Production

When appropriate, a description of the character's production, including who initially designed the character (if an anime original character), notes about their design or conception, etc.

Notable Skills

A list or description of notable skills or techniques. Video game techniques should be separated from those used in the series proper.
