Reason: What else do we want to add here? How in-depth? Are we listing Dr. Slump characters? Probably, right? What about the Super characters from Universe 3? Need to check and see what terms are used to refer to them. Add images, check/verify voice credits..

Akira Toriyama wrote a brief guide to the Artificial Humans as the title page to Dragon Ball Chapter 367.

Artificial Humans (人造人間; jinzōningen) are beings created to resemble or act like humans, but the term itself does not specifically distinguish between either "Android" or "Cyborg" types. Akira Toriyama uses this term to describe all such beings seen throughout the series created by the scientist Doctor Gero. Each artificial human created has been assigned a specific development number by Doctor Gero, with the exception of Cell, which is typically how they are referred to (i.e. No. 17 & No. 18). The "Technology" section of Daizenshuu 4 further divides the artificial humans up into two separate groups, a "Biotechnological-type"[1] (バイオタイプ; baio-taipu) and "Mechanical-type" (メカタイプ; meka-taipu).

Original Serialization / Manga Characters

The following artificial human characters appear in Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball manga series. Dragon Ball Chapter 367 clarified that Doctor Gero created and ultimately discarded models for all of the numbers through 20, including those not seen in the series itself.[2] While the first eight models were designed to aid the Red Ribbon Army in their world conquest, the models after that point were designed explicitly to take revenge on Son Goku.[3]

As described in the manga, Artificial Humans Nos. 1-7 and 9-12 were problem-ridden failures,[4] while Artificial Humans Nos. 13-15 were closer to the final form. Toriyama did not provide designs in the manga for these models, instead using only a placeholder image.[5]
