Summary
In the gravity room at Capsule Corp., Vegeta is training and Trunks is with him. Vegeta tells Trunks he should leave, since 150G is probably too much for him. Trunks says Goten called last night to say he was entering the Tenka’ichi Budōkai, so he has to enter too. Trunks says this is too hard, and so he decides to turn Super Saiyan. Vegeta is shocked, as Trunks enjoys being able to run around now. Vegeta wonders when he could start doing this, and thinks of how easily he became a legendary Super Saiyan. Vegeta stops Trunks and asks him if Son Gohan’s little brother is a Super Saiyan as well. Vegeta thinks this is becoming "Super Saiyan bargain sale", and then tells Trunks to attack him. Trunks thinks Father is too strong, but Vegeta says he’ll take him to the amusement park if he hits him in the face just once.
"All right, I'll teach you two Bukūjutsu, or rather, how to fly. It's just ki control, and it's not that difficult. If you think it's jumping at high speed, that alone is no good, but..." Videl asks what this ki stuff is. "Eh!? Ki... You probably call it something else where you're from. It's the hidden 'energy' or 'power' within your body." Videl still does not understand, so Goten demonstrates by destroying a nearby mountain with a ki blast. Videl thinks that was a trick, but Gohan says not at all. Videl thinks it must be sorcery, then, so Gohan realizes he will have to explain all about ki to her. Videl worries that without ki she cannot fly, but Gohan says everyone has ki. It is just hard to control. He tells Goten Bukūjutsu will have to wait, because first he must explain to Videl about ki.

Trunks goes all out, but Vegeta dodges every time. Trunks finally manages to scratch his cheek, and Vegeta counters by knocking Trunks across the room. Vegeta never said he wouldn’t counter, and Trunks starts to cry. Vegeta tells him not to cry, he’ll take him to the amusement park, but first he asks who’s stronger between Trunks and Son Gohan’s little brother. Trunks is, just by a little bit though, because Goten’s a year younger and can’t fly. Vegeta is pissed about these kids being so strong. Meanwhile, Videl is starting to float a lot, and Gohan tells her there’s not much left he can teach her. But she wants to be able to fly as good as Goten, so she’ll keep coming until then. Gohan whispers to Goten not to fly so fast when Videl’s around.
Goten goes off to play, as Gohan begins to explain about ki. Forcing it is no good, first she has to get very calm, or else she cannot bring out her ki. Some time passes, and then they eat. Videl compliments Chi-Chi's cooking, saying it is better than her cook's. Chi-Chi thinks she must be rich, and asks how many rooms are in her house. Videl says about fifty. Chi-Chi asks Gohan when they are getting married, which promptly causes him to spit up his food. Later, Gohan says she has already grasped ki, probably because of her martial arts experience. Videl asks if she can fly now, but Gohan says no. She still needs to learn to control it and use it freely.

They touch back down on the ground and Videl says her ability to fly needs to be a secret from Papa (Mister Satan), because she wants to surprise him while fighting. He also wouldn’t like that she’s going to a boy’s house, and she’s only allowed to get involved with a boy that’s stronger than Papa, even though there’s no boys like that... Gohan asks if she’s ever fought with her dad, and she hasn’t. Gohan thinks that she doesn’t realize she’s actually stronger than Mister Satan. He asks if she’d be shocked if her father was defeated, but Videl says he needs to lose, he’s been getting caught up in himself, and frolicking with lots of women since Mama died. Videl wants to get back to training now, but first asks where Gohan learned martial arts. "A person I know, and my dead father." Videl figures his father was really strong, and Goten says their father is coming back for the Tenka’ichi Budōkai. Videl figures he’s not really dead, but he ran off, and he’s coming to see them at the Budōkai.
Elsewhere... Goku is doing some weighted training, as Kaiō watches. Someone in a similar outfit comes up to him and mocks his training methods. Kaiō addresses him as South Kaiō. South Kaiō says this must be the North Area's strong guy Son Goku, and asks how heavy those weights are he is using. Kaiō says two tons, and South Kaiō freaks out, but then calms down and says that would be no big deal for his South Area's Papoi. Kaiō suggests he enter this Papoi in the fighting tournament on a planet called Earth in the North Area, and South Kaiō says okay. Then Kaiō asks Goku if it is okay to increase the weights to ten tons, and Goku doubts he will be able to move. Kaiō says he can turn Super Saiyan, and Goku says it will be no problem then. Ten tons, one on each limb, making forty tons of weight. Goku cannot handle the weight at first, but after transforming it is no problem at all and South Kaiō is speechless. He says that Papoi probably would not enter some dumb little tournament like that anyway, and then leaves.

"Videl-san was no ordinary girl after all, and she was able to fly freely after just ten days. Thanks to this, Goten and I were able to get into serious training alone. The day of the Tenka’ichi Budōkai, where Father is also coming, is near...!!"
Gohan is amazed that in only one day, Videl can already float a little. But Goten is easily zooming around in the air, and Gohan reassures Videl that he has had much more experience with ki control. Videl says she is coming back tomorrow, despite Gohan's objections, because she wants to know more about ki. She pulls out the capsule for her plane and prepares to leave, but first, Gohan says her hair would be better short. Videl bashfully asks if Gohan likes short hair, but Gohan thoughtlessly says short hair is an advantage during a fight. With long hair, it could get in your eyes, or an opponent could grab it. Videl then gets angry and tells him to mind his own business, then leaves. Goten wonders why she was mad, but Gohan has no idea, and worries about all this interfering with their actual training. The next morning, Videl shows up, with short, boyish hair, and wants to continue where they left off yesterday. Gohan does not understand her at all...
