Bulma, Goku, and the Dragon Balls is the first issue of the monthly Dragon Ball SD manga series by Naho Ooishi, based on the original story by Akira Toriyama. It is the fifth overall issue after the four prototype issues, but this is the first chapter which is included in the collected volumes. It was first published in Japan in the January 2012 issue of Saikyo Jump. This issue represents a hard reset for the series, resuming the plot at the beginning and ignoring (and contradicting) the events depicted in the previous chapters.

Notes
- This chapter adapts Dragon Ball chapters 1 through 4. Unlike the previous quarterly series, events in this issue are told in a more straight-forward way relative to the original manga.
- Goku meets the Turtle Hermit for the first time in this issue, contradicting the events of Dragon Ball SD Quarterly Chapter 1.
- While Bulma is discussing boyfriends, the scene shifts momentarily to a sneezing Vegeta, on a Freeza-style ship with Nappa and Raditz. This awareness of future plot points and ability to play off them in a humorous way is a key aspect of SD's humor, depicted here for the first time.
- While Bulma is postulating that all men eventually become perverts, there is a brief fast-forward to Goku offering lewd pictures of Bulma to the Old Kaiōshin. This fast-forward depicts an event from Dragon Ball Chapter 479.
- Pilaf and his team appear in this issue for the first time. This mimics the Dragon Ball anime's inclusion of them as early antagonists, in contrast to the original manga when they were introduced towards the end of the first arc.
