Menu

The main menu is identical on both discs, featuring the pirate robot behind a turtle (亀 kame) symbol and the background music (BGM) track A-1, an instrumental arrangement of "Mystical Adventure" over the song's karaoke track. A-1 is track #01 on Disc 5 of the Dragon Ball & Dragon Ball Z Daizenshuu CD set. The vocal substitution parts on A-1 were probably arranged by Shunsuke Kikuchi and recorded in his studios along with all the other BGM listed below.

The Episodes menus both feature a winking Bulma behind the turtle symbol. Disc 1 features the unreleased BGM numbered K-138 in the Kanzenshuu catalogue followed by A9 (K-34), which is part b of track #13 on Daizenshuu Disc 2. The DVD Disc 2 Episodes menu features the unreleased BGM tracks respectively numbered K-93 and K-305.

The Language menus feature General Blue behind the turtle symbol. Disc 1 features the Dr. Slump BGM numbered Dr-9 (also by Shunsuke Kikuchi), and Disc 2 features M107 (K-149), part a of track #20 on Daizenshuu Disc 2.

The Extras menus feature blonde Lunch behind the turtle symbol. Disc 1 features the unreleased BGM piece K-302, while Disc 2 features U-20, a composition of unknown origin that might have been stock music.

The Trailers menus both feature Kuririn behind the turtle symbol; neither of these menus have any music.

      • Subtitles On
      • Subtitles Off

Under "English", when subtitles are "on", the subtitle track is the Closed Captions for the English dub. Under "Japanese", when subtitles are "on", the subtitle track is the direct translation of the Japanese dialogue by Clyde Mandelin. When subtitles are "off", there is still an active subtitle track with translations of Japanese writing that does not appear in the spoken dialogue like signs, symbols, etc. This is intended to accompany the English dub.

Character Profiles

Character profiles are included on both discs; presented exactly as they were written.

Taught martial arts by his adoptive grandfather Gohan, who raised him out in the wilderness, Goku is very strong, agile, and fearless. He'll take on any fight no matter what the odds are if he thinks that someone has been wronged.

Krillin is a young boy who comes into action when he arrives to study martial arts under Master Roshi. Driven to be the best martial arts fighter, Krillin will do whatever it takes to win, even cheat. Krillin tries to keep up with Goku as they become the best of friends and friendly rivals.

Bulma is one independent and determined teen. She'll do whatever it takes to get what she wants and won't let anything stand in her way - not mountains, monsters, or pride. Bulma is also a mixed up teen with a quirk that won't allow her to shut-up. She's a mechanical genius who can operate and fix anything.

An ancient and wise master of martial arts, Master Roshi has accumulated great power and wisdom. He is very old and hermitlike. Although he may appear quirky, frail and harmless, Master Roshi is indeed a great warrior. He is master of the "Kamehameha" a tremendous attack.

The diminutive leader of the Red Ribbon Army has big plans for world domination. But Commander Red has his own private wish, to wish himself taller! Commander Red will do whatever it takes to seek out the Dragon Balls and will use as many of his army as necessary to accomplish his master plan. But what will his loyal soldiers think when his selfish desire is revealed?

After playing a dangerous game of cat and mouse with Goku, General Blue finds himself face to face with the bizarre citizens of Penguin Village. Blue manages to subdue the young warrior and steal the Dragon Radar, but quickly finds that he has bitten off more than he can chew when the young girl Arale plays her version of tag with the Red Ribbon Officer

The generous and friendly Launch is the all-time best example of dual personalities. In her subdued form Launch wouldn't hurt a fly. But when she sneezes she transforms into a highly aggressive blonde who enjoys a good crime spree. Neither of Launch's personalities knows about the other, which often leads to major headaches for those near her.

The simple, but amicable Arale meets Goku in her hometown of Penguin Village and hops aboard the Flying Nimbus to help Goku search for the Dragon Balls. Arale surprises Goku and General Blue with her incredible speed and power: After Goku watches Arale do away with General Blue he realizes that he has even more training to do if he wants to become the best warrior in the world.

Don't be fooled by this super hero in disguise. Sour Man is actual an average human with no special powers despite the ones he might think he has. Sour Man is quickly put in his place by General Blue after a chance meeting on the street.
