Trailers

Menu

The main menu is identical on both discs, featuring Goku behind a turtle (亀 kame) symbol and the background music (BGM) track A-1, an instrumental arrangement of "Mystical Adventure" over the song's karaoke track. A-1 is track #01 on Disc 5 of the Dragon Ball & Dragon Ball Z Daizenshuu CD set. The vocal substitution parts on A-1 were probably arranged by Shunsuke Kikuchi and recorded in his studios along with all the other BGM listed below.

The Episodes menus both feature Mai behind the turtle symbol. Disc 1 features the BGM G13, part c of track #05 on Daizenshuu Disc 2, and the DVD Disc 2 Episodes menu features the unreleased BGM tracks respectively numbered K-9 and K-142 in the Kanzenshuu catalogue.

The Language menus feature Pilaf behind the turtle symbol and two edited BGM tracks in succession. The first is K-65, released as part b of track #11 on Disc 2 of the Daizenshuu collection, but without an official catalogue number. The second BGM is M107 (K-149), part a of track #20 on Daizenshuu Disc 2.

The Extras menus feature Murasaki wielding a sword behind the turtle symbol. Disc 1 features the unreleased BGM piece K-148, colloquially known as "Ninja Murasaki", while Disc 2 features M119, part d of track #16 on Disc 2 of the Daizenshuu collection.

The Trailers menus feature Chi-Chi attacking with her helmet behind the turtle symbol; neither of these menus have any music.

When subtitles are "off", there is still an active subtitle track with translations of Japanese writing that does not appear in the spoken dialogue like signs, symbols, etc. This is intended to accompany the English dub.

Character Profiles

Character profiles are included on both discs; presented exactly as they were written.

Taught martial arts by his adoptive grandfather Gohan, who raised him out in the wilderness, Goku is very strong, agile, and fearless. He'll take on any fight no matter what the odds are if he thinks that someone has been wronged.

Krillin is a young boy who comes into action when he arrives to study martial arts under Master Roshi. Driven to be the best martial arts fighter, Krillin will do whatever it takes to win, even cheat. Krillin tries to keep up with Goku as they become the best of friends and friendly rivals.

An ancient and wise master of martial arts, Master Roshi has accumulated great power and wisdom. He is very old and hermitlike. Although he may appear quirky, frail and harmless, Master Roshi is indeed a great warrior. He is master of the "Kamehameha" a tremendous attack.

Bulma is one independent and determined teen. She'll do whatever it takes to get what she wants and won't let anything stand in her way - not mountains, monsters, or pride. Bulma is also a mixed up teen with a quirk that won't allow her to shut-up. She's a mechanical genius who can operate and fix anything.

Yamcha is a powerful and feared warrior who can call upon the "Wolf-Fang Fist", a move he uses to vanquish his enemies. Initially, Yamcha seems more like a bully than a hero, but he comes around. Although he's incredibly cool, and under control, he is preposterously shy around women, especially Bulma.

The Emperor is an insufferable, power hungry dolt whose consuming desire is to rule the entire world. The only thing that can be said for him is that he's a largely incompetent [sic]. Pilaf's great, inherited wealth allows him to afford any high-tech device or soldier of fortune that he needs.

Mai is the Emperor's right hand woman, and the only one he really trusts to carry out his bidding. She's a beautiful, calculating, and formidable opponent.

Shao is a bumbling, furry ball of comic relief. He hasn't carried out a successful mission yet, but Pilaf keeps him around so that he's not surrounded by anyone too competent to overthrow him. A warrior and thief by trade, he is boastful when on top and a chicken when at risk.

Ox King is a huge, muscular hulk. He's larger than Goku and all his friends put together and his strength matches his incredible size. Ox King is known far and wide for his powerful fighting ability. He'll do anything to protect his home and his precious daughter Chi Chi.

Chi Chi is a cute little girl: the only one with a pure enough heart to ride on the Nimbus Cloud with Goku. Being young and cute doesn't mean she isn't an amazing fighter. Her helmet contains a boomerang that she can throw with amazing accuracy to down her opponents. Chi Chi is also in love with Goku.

A master of martial arts, the crafty ninja Murasaki faces off against Goku in Muscle Tower. Murasaki is not afraid to take whatever steps necessary to do his job, no matter how tricky or unfair. Seeing that he cannot possibly defeat Goku, he awakens the monstrous Android 8 ordering him to destroy Goku.

Android 8 was created by Dr. Gero as a guard for the Red Ribbon Army to defend their interests against outsiders. With Goku tearing through the Red Ribbon ranks, the time for Android 8 to earn his keep is at hand. With the ninja Murasaki holding the reins, Android 8 is ordered to destroy Goku, or be destroyed himself!

  • NOTE: Dr. Gero is not mentioned in Dragon Ball. In fact, No. 8's creation was attributed to an entirely different character, the anime-only Dr. Flappe.
