Page 8 is an interstitial page taken from Dragon Ball Volume 4. Oolong is wearing a soccer uniform and clutching his foot in pain, apparently following an attempt to kick a Dragon Ball. In the background, a teammate looks over all bemused as he kicks his soccer ball.
Cover Illustration
This issue's Akira Toriyama cover illustration is excerpted from an insert poster drawn for the 1987 #21 issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump. This issue featured Dragon Ball Chapter 121 and went on sale on 21 April 1987 in Japan. The full illustration depicts other characters from the 22nd Tenka'ichi Budōkai in front of the monastery. Tenshinhan, Chiaotzu, and Panput are between Goku and Kuririn and Jackie Chun, so Goku was excised from the rest to avoid spoilers. The full illustration gets a two-page reproduction in Dragon Ball Daizenshuu 1 ("The Complete Illustrations")[1] and a half-page reproduction in Dragon Ball Chōgashū ("A Visual History").[2]
Advertisements

Page 32 is an advertisement for the Viz adaptation of Magical Pokémon Journey.
The inside of the back cover is an advertisement for Viz's shop-by-mail service. The Battle Angel Alita from earlier versions of this advertisement has been replaced with Goku, and there is also an illustration of Pikachu under the list of Pokémon merchandise. This ad is reproduced on the page for "Dragon Ball" Part 2-14.
The back cover is a full-color advertisement for Pioneer VHS and DVD release of Trigun Volume 1, "The $$60,000,000,000 Man". This ad is reproduced on the page for "Dragon Ball Z" Part 3-2.
