North American “Dragon Ball Fusions” (3DS) Game Receives 2.2.0 Update

Jumping from its initial launch version all the way up to match the current Japanese release at version 2.2.0, the North American release of Dragon Ball Fusions on the Nintendo 3DS received its long-awaited patch today adding new modes, characters, techniques, and more. The free update is available on the Nintendo 3DS eShop, and requires 444 free blocks of space on the system’s storage media.

Ver. 2.2.0 added the following features:

– New characters
– New clothes
– New Special Moves
– “Ziku-kan Radar” at the StreetPass facility
– “Connect with people far away” at the connection facility
– “Ziku-kan Quest” at the connection facility

– Trunks (Super)
– Goku Black
– Super Saiyan Rosé Goku Black

New Characters:

– Super Saiyan Trunks (Super)
– SSGSS Vegito
– Zamas
– Fused Zamas

New Clothes:

– Super Saiyan Trunks’s (Super) Clothes
– Goku Black’s Clothes

– Black Kamehameha

– Final Kamehameha

“Ziku-kan Radar”
Detect real-world Wi-Fi networks to enter special zones where you can play. Try it in various places.

“Connect with people far away”
Use the internet to connect with people far away from you. You can also post your stats to earn rewards.

Ziku-kan Quests:
Play special quests.

The following was updated in version 2.2.0:
– The progression speed of the Saiyan, Alien, and Namekian timelines has increased.
– Activation of the skill “First Striker” is now based on chance.
The Power Level required to complete the “Photo Fusions” training has been lowered.

The Ki Orb cost of the following Special Moves has increased:
– Galactic Donuts (incl. variations)
– Mach Move

The chance for the following Special Moves to apply status effects has been lowered:
– Turtle Style Last Resort (incl. variations)
– Present Bomb (incl. variations)
– Lullaby Punch (incl. variations) & Paralysis
– Ah, Lord Frieza/Beerus! (incl. variations)
– Galactic Donuts (incl. variations)

All three of the Space/Time Vortex Quest missions are available immediately (albeit with seemingly-incorrect end dates in January 2017). Likewise, the seven new playable characters are also immediately available in the player’s roster of allies.

Matching Viz’s release of the Dragon Ball Super manga, and in opposition to the official simulcast stream translations, Bandai Namco has opted for a name spelling of “Zamas” (dropping the trailing “-u”).

The update does not change the visual appearance of certain weapons which were changed from their original sword design in the Japanese version of the game.

The European version of the game — set for launch next week on 17 February 2017will receive a free “Day One Patch” also bringing the game up-to-date with its international peers.

Dragon Ball Fusions, developed by Ganbarion for Bandai Namco, is the latest Dragon Ball franchise portable video game and is exclusively available on the Nintendo 3DS. The game has sold upward of 170,000 copies thus far in Japan and has received three free updates. The game was released in America 22 November 2016 and is set for a release in Europe 17 February 2017.
