Dragon Valley is an original setting created by Toei Animation for Dragon Ball Episode 2. The valley is a deep, narrow ravine about 100 kilometers north of Pilaf's Castle.[1]
General Overview
In the Dragon Ball manga, Son Goku returns to Bulma's capsule house with a wolf and a centipede for their dinner, but his hunting happened off-screen.[2] In the anime, this is expanded into an encounter with the Pilaf Gang subordinates, Mai and Shuu. They are searching for a Dragon Ball, but they find only wolves. Goku thinks their airplane is a bird and attacks it as they try to escape. Then he returns to Bulma with a wolf and a centipede.[1]
Name
龍ヶ谷 (ryūgadani) translates literally to "Dragon Valley". 龍 (ryū) is "dragon"; ヶ, or small ケ (ke), functions as a possessive here and is read as が (ga); 谷 (たに tani) means "valley" and is read as だに (dani) in this compound word.
