The following transformations are achieved, seen, and/or referenced Dragon Ball, either in Akira Toriyama's original manga series, Toei Animation's animated adaptation, within video games produced by Bandai Namco, etc.
The "Super Saiyan Pedigree" column from Daizenshuu 10: TV Animation Part 3 (p. 92)
This enormous ape form is triggered by basking in the light of a full moon. By transforming into a Great Ape, one's own battle power will rise sharply by ten-fold. Only when a Saiyan's eyes absorb the sunlight bouncing off of the moon (a special light known as Bruits Waves) will their tail react and cause the transformation. This transformation only occurs when the Bruits Waves being absorbed exceed 17,000,000 Zeno, which is only possible during a full moon.[1]
An ultimate Saiyan warrior who has exceeded Saiyan limitations. Originally, the existence of this legendary being was held in doubt amongst even the Saiyans. In reality, any Saiyan who has a high battle power beyond a certain level can become a Super Saiyan. There are several crucial elements to becoming a Super Saiyan; one must have a gentle heart, be exposed to an extreme sense of danger, be filled with a strong anger, be tormented with sorrow, and feel as if the fate of the Saiyan race itself is at risk. A Super Saiyan is embued with a golden aura and hair (which will stand on end), the sharp eyes of a hawk, and emerald green pupils. In addition to the outward change in appearance, a 50-times increase in the Saiyan's ordinary battle power is proof of the legendary strongest warrior's existence.[2]
By sending ki to focus all the nerves in his body, a Saiyan can swell his muscles in order to power up. This form experiences an exceptional increase in power and speed compared to normal Super Saiyans.[3]
The user's muscles swell out to the maximum, enabling him to draw out tremendous power. However, it diminishes his speed as his movement grows dull from the great strain placed upon his body.[3]
A form which possesses a power exceeding that of a Super Saiyan's. Though Gohan achieves this form naturally in an explosion of anger after witnessing Cell's cruel nature, Goku and Vegeta master it through relentless training.[3] This form grants twice the strength of Super Saiyan.
The form which draws out a Saiyan's maximum inner power. However, the downside is that it exhausts massive energy, and outside of the Afterlife, the transformation cannot be maintained for any longer than just a little while.[3] This form grants 4 times the strength of Super Saiyan 2.
This form imitates the same full-body aura as that of a Super Saiyan, but it does not have completely golden hair. The Saiyan's eyes become fully white, as if in this state he were unconscious.[4]
This form requires that six Saiyans with righteous hearts be present. To give birth to a Super Saiyan God, five of the righteous Saiyans must pour their spirits[5] into the sixth Saiyan. This power-up far exceeds the limitations of a Super Saiyan 3, and the user's hair turns red and his body becomes slimmer.[3]
The level of Super Saiyan imbued with the power of Super Saiyan God.[6] This form can be attained on one's own, without the need of help from another Saiyan.[7] Its strength surpasses that of Super Saiyan God.[8] Super Saiyan Blue allows its user great strength, a serene heart, and extreme energy control.[9] Super Saiyan Blue's weakness is that its full power lasts only for a short while, but when the user keeps the energy within himself, this weakness can be overcome.[10]
The ultimate form which surpasses Super Saiyan 3. After Goku regrows his tail and becomes a Golden Great Ape, he is able to regain control thanks to a speech from Pan, and turns into a Super Saiyan 4. Because of its red fur and long black hair, this form is quite different than the Super Saiyan forms before it. Vegeta is also able to become a Super Saiyan 4 by way of Bulma's Super Bruits Wave Generator.[3]
The potential to purposefully transform oneself. For transformation-type aliens, their ability and number of transformations differ from species-to-species. In Zarbon's case, he can transform only once; from his usual beautiful form to an unimaginably unattractive monster with a power-up. For Freeza, he can transform up to a fourth form, and his final form holds an unexpected power for such a petite figure. Kuriza transforms to look like Freeza's final form with a pointed head.[13]
Since Coola is usually in the same state as Freeza after his third transformation, this transformation is the fourth in that line. When transformed, his eyes become red, and four angular protrusions appear on his head. His skin becomes armor-like in appearance, and something like a protective mask fits over his mouth. His body also becomes gigantic, and his offensive and defensive powers seem to increase.[14]
An ability unique to the artificial lifeform Cell, which was manufactured by Dr. Gero's computer. Every form change Cell undergoes results in a power-up. By absorbing the artificial human No. 17, Cell changes into his second form, and absorbing No. 18 results in his completed form. Though his first form appears quite insect-like, Cell's second and third forms have a humanoid appearance due to No. 17 and 18's influence. In his completed form, Cell becomes the perfect warrior in every aspect, such as speed and strength.[15]

↑In Chōzenshū 4, the term used here is 気/ki. At the time, the film version of Battle of Gods was the only reference; in the film, the term used is "light" (光/hikari); Piccolo tells Goku that his power only rose because the others poured their "energy" (エネルギー/enerugii) into him; then Whis points out that they also need a sixth person. In Dragon Ball Super Episode 9, after the first failed attempt, Whis corrects both errors at once, telling them that they need to pour their hearts/spirits (心/kokoro) into a sixth person rather than their ki. The author of this entry in Chōzenshū 4 probably assumed that hikari and ki must be the same thing.
