Synopsis
Goku and the others have a difficult fight against the Cell Juniors, but are gradually pushed back and finally knocked around! Seeing this, Gohan's heart quakes from anger and sadness. Even Satan trembles at this scene, but at the request of No. 16's head, he takes the head and throws it in front of Gohan, shaking the whole time. As No. 16 appeals to Gohan to unleash his anger, he is squashed by Cell. At that instant, his anger having reached its peak, Gohan emits a ki that shakes the earth!!
Summary
Part A
The Cell Juniors fly towards Gohan's assembled friends at high speed, each one directed at a different opponent. Laughing and playful, they easily out-power even Vegeta. Within moments, everyone is fighting as the playful terrors seem to take their time defeating their prey. Cell looks on from afar, smirking, as Gohan looks on in anger and terror.
The ZTV reporter narrates the confrontation to his listeners as Mister Satan looks on terrified. He asks Satan if his stomachache has receded, but Satan immediately grabs his abdomen in pain. Satan tells the reporter that the pain is very acute and only he can withstand it; if he doesn't look like he is in discomfort, it is because of his incredible tolerance for pain. Artificial Human No. 16's head sits on the ground nearby, seemingly dead.
Back at the battle, a single Cell Junior toys with Goku, flipping off of rocks and burrowing underground to keep him on the defensive. Piccolo manages to get the upper hand with his, telling Tenshinhan and Yamcha that Goku is losing because he is still low on energy after fighting Cell. He knocks his Cell Junior into the one fighting Tenshinhan and then takes out the one fighting Yamcha, freeing up the three of them to take on the one harassing Goku. Yamcha and Tenshinhan together overpower it and save Goku, leaving a pile of defeated Cell Juniors on the valley floor below. Unfortunately, the Cell Juniors stand and get ready to resume the battle.
Piccolo seems to be the only warrior to be able to overpower the Cell Juniors. Very soon, one knocks Kuririn off of their vantage point and to the ground in front of Gohan. With the boy watching from just a few feet away, he pounds and kicks Kuririn into the ground. Gohan realizes that his friends may die and, except for Trunks, none of them can be brought back by the dragon balls. The tide of the battle turns as Yamcha and Tenshinhan are also taken out. Piccolo no longer has the upper hand and is pummeled by his opponent. Trunks crashes to the ground at high speed. An exhausted Goku prepares to fight again. Cell comments as Gohan's ki begins to rise, pleased that he is finally making the boy angry. Above, Vegeta is shocked that he is having difficulty against the pint-sized antagonists. A Cell Junior breaks Yamcha's arm. Goku falls to the ground, defeated. Gohan despairs as his friends fall one by one and wishes that he knew how to unlock his hidden power.
Part B
Mister Satan and his entourage watch the unfolding battle in shock. Very quickly, all of Gohan's friend are down. Vegeta tries using a Final Flash against one of the Cell Juniors, but the miniature terror has little difficulty blocking the attack and sending the energy to crash in the distance. The shockwave knocks No. 16's severed across the battlefield. Pizza brushes off the dirt from her outfit and suggests that they leave; this battle is beyond all of them. Karoni suggests that they flee, but Mister Satan disagrees. He is the champion; why should he run away? Mister Satan suggests that instead of running away, that they all just go to the hospital for a bit until his stomachache clears. He starts walking away but hears a strange voice: it is No. 16's head! He asks that Satan take him to where Gohan is. Everyone is shocked that a severed head is talking. Satan refuses but No. 16 tells him that he knows that he wants to help, too. After all, Satan is the world champion. Satan says that he will do it after he returns from the hospital, but No. 16 calls him "champion" to stroke his ego and he relents. Everyone insists that they leave immediately, but Mister Satan finds his courage and agrees to take the head. The reporter asks him to stay or else he will be killed, but Satan says that those people that they do not know and the boy are fighting. How much of a champion could he be if he just walked away?
As the battle rages all around him, Mister Satan carries the head across the battlefield. Ki blasts detonate on all sides, but he keeps running. Goku, Kuririn, Tenshinhan, and Yamcha are all being beaten badly, while Piccolo and Vegeta appear to have some stamina left. All Gohan can do is cry as he watches his friends being pummeled. Cell calls up to his Cell Juniors that playtime is over: now it is time for everyone to die. Just in time, Mister Satan gets close enough to Cell that he can toss Artificial Human No. 16's severed head towards Gohan and it lands between Cell and Gohan. No. 16 tells Gohan that it is no sin to fight for right, and that you cannot talk your way out of all battles. He urges Gohan to give in to his anger. As Cell walks over, No. 16 tells Gohan that he too loves animals and nature. It will be up to Gohan to defend them for him. Cell crushes No. 16's head, killing him.
Seeing No. 16's death, Gohan snaps. He thinks of birds as he lets his anger overtake him. With tears in his eyes, he finally emerges as Super Saiyan 2.
