Synopsis

Cell catches Gohan and tightens his arms around him! Piccolo is unable to control himself and tries to go help Gohan, but Cell releases Gohan and steals the senzu from Kuririn. No. 16 then pinions Cell and tries to self-destruct! But it turns out that his self-destruction device was removed when he was being repaired! Cell destroys the startled No. 16, and gives birth to seven Cell Juniors, sending them to attack Goku and the others.

Summary

Part A

Son Gohan and Cell stare at each other across the battlefield. Son Goku silently pleads with his son to get angry so that he can defeat his opponent. Over with Mister Satan and his entourage, the reporter reminds his viewers at home that if no one defeats Cell at the Cell Games, then he will kill every person on earth. Only this child is willing to stand up to Cell. He pointedly turns towards Satan and asks, "Is your stomachache still bothering you?" Suddenly, Satan doubles over in pain and collapses to the ground.

Cell resumes the battle, using Freeza's death beam against Gohan, blasting small holes in the surrounding rocks. Kuririn flashes back to Freeza using that attack to kill Vegeta on Planet Namek. Cell blasts at Gohan over and over again, forcing him to dodge. While distracted by the beams, Cell sneaks in and embraces Gohan in a painful squeeze attack. Gohan cries out and Cell taunts him, encouraging him to get angry. Piccolo is distressed to see his protégé being tortured and threatens to rush in, but Goku encourages him to give Gohan more time to become angry. Piccolo screams at Goku: Gohan does not enjoying fighting the same way he does. Did he discuss this "strategy" with Gohan? Does he know what Gohan is thinking right now? Goku looks shocked in realization. Piccolo tells him that Gohan may not be getting angry at Cell, but instead wonders why his father will not come to save him, and why his father values a "fair fight" more than his son's life. Piccolo starts to ready for the fight as Goku asks for a senzu. Cell drops Gohan's limp body to the ground.

Cell realizes what is wrong: Gohan's own pain won't be enough to get him angry. He needs to hurt the people that Gohan cares about. He flies up towards Goku and his friends, homing in on Kuririn to grab his bag of senzu. Cell then returns to Gohan and tells him that it is not even worth his time to fight his friends, but that he needs to hurt them to make Gohan angry. Gohan tells Cell not to hurt them; he's not even able to control when his power emerges. Cell laughs at him. That is precisely the reason why his friends must suffer!

Gohan attacks, but Cell just kicks him away. While he is distracted, Artificial Human No. 16 sneaks up on him and locks him in the same squeeze that Cell broke Gohan with minutes before. Piccolo explains to Goku that he was able to sneak past everyone and attack because, as a robot, he doesn't have any ki to detect. Piccolo and Trunks prepare to rush in to help No. 16, but the robot waves them away: he is going to self-destruct. It is his final hidden power. At point-blank range, Cell will be blown to bits!

Part B

Cell struggles under No. 16's grasp, but is unable to escape. He tells Cell that this is the end of Doctor Gero's plan and powers up, his body engulfed in yellow energy. Everyone braces for impact. Mister Satan hides behind his students and demands that they protect their master. The reporter calls out for his mother. No blast comes. No. 16 is confused, but Kuririn reveals the truth: Bulma and Doctor Brief removed the bomb while they were repairing him.

At Kame House, Bulma tells the Turtle Hermit that this is true. She flashes back to when she and her father were working on No. 16 in their lab. Dr. Brief finds something strange near No. 16's heart and asks Bulma to perform a deeper scan. They look deeper and discover a Red Ribbon Army-tagged bomb in the robot's chest. Bulma says that it is powerful enough to destroy the Earth. Dr. Brief tells his daughter that the bomb is not safe and must be removed. Back at Kame House, Bulma tells the Turtle Hermit that her father removed the bomb.

No. 16 is stunned by the news that his bomb was removed long enough for Cell to overpower him. With one quick ki attack, Cell shatters No. 16's body and parts go flying everywhere. Gohan is stunned as Cell places his foot on No. 16's severed head. Cell kicks the head towards Mister Satan and his entourage, causing the champion to grasp Pizza in a suggestive way. She blushes and tells him not to do so in public. Satan demands that Karoni dispose of the head, but he is scared and unable to do so.

Cell begins counting Gohan's friends, determining that there are seven of them. In a strained pose, Cell expels seven blobs from his sucking appendage which was still tucked away behind his wings. They emerge as mini copies of Cell, only blue instead of green; they are Cell Juniors! Cell commands them to fight Gohan's friends and they race off, laughing. Goku screams to be careful because they are each frightfully strong. Trunks and Vegeta power up to Super Saiyan as the group prepares to face off against this new threat.
