With Cell as his opponent, Gohan is committed to protecting everyone. He is hit head-on by Cell's energy wave and is crushed beneath crumbling rocks, but gets up all the same. But Gohan tells Cell about the power hidden within him. He says that he does not want to kill Cell, and requests that they stop this fight. But Cell at laughs this, telling Gohan to show him this hidden power, brutally hitting Gohan in order to provoke him! Cell grins after being hit with Gohan's first attack...

Summary

Part A

Son Gohan and Cell stare at each other. Cell calls out that Gohan is wasting his time, but the young fighter shows no emotion. Back at home, Chi-Chi despairs that Gohan has come to this, that Son Goku would let it come to this. She implores to her TV that Gohan not try to fight this monster. On the battlefield, Karoni and Pirozhki are amazed that Gohan could try to fight Cell after they were so badly beaten. Finally, Cell attacks with an energy beam and Gohan dodges. Cell continues and Gohan dodges blast after blast as the world looks on in disgust that such a small child should be put against Cell.

At a military base, additional army and airforce units are being readied for a second assault on Cell. At the King of Earth's castle, the king despairs that it is futile. The boy who defeated Demon King Piccolo has lost, but the young man that he appointed to fight next is still going. They must entrust the world to the hands of this unknown young boy.

Cell is landing blows on Gohan now, but still the boy does not fight back. Cell hits him with a powerful ki blast at point-blank range, sending him careening through several mountains. Still, Goku smiles.

The ZTV reporter tells the world that Gohan is dead. At her home, Chi-Chi faints. Even Piccolo shouts at Goku that he is responsible for Gohan's death, but Goku just reminds him that Gohan's ki hasn't dropped a bit despite all of the pummeling. He's not dead. Cell demands that Goku take a senzu and fight him again, but Goku tells him that his fight against Gohan isn't over. Gohan blasts away the mountain and walks calmly towards Cell surrounded by his powerful yellow aura.

Gohan tells Cell that the he should end the Cell Games: the fight is meaningless. Cell, not understanding, asks Gohan if he is losing his nerve. For him, the entertainment is the meaning to the games. Gohan interrupts Cell explaining his plan to massacre humanity, telling him that he doesn't want to kill him no matter how evil he is. Cell seems amused; Gohan could not kill him in a hundred years! Gohan claims that he finally understands why his father thought that he was the only one that could defeat Cell.

Part B

Gohan explains that ever since he was little, he had a power when he was angry that even he did not understand.

He flashes back to Raditz's arrival on Earth. Goku has been defeated by his brother's dirty trick of feigning contrition and then attacking Goku when his guard was down. Gohan hears his father's cries from inside in uncle's pod. In his rage, he breaks open the pod and attacks. Raditz panics when he sees the toddler with a battle power of 1307. He flies towards Raditz and strikes him on the chest, knocking him backwards.

Gohan then flashes to the beginning of his training under Piccolo. His new master tells him that he has incredible power which he hopes to unlock through training. Gohan claims that he doesn't have power like that, so Piccolo proves it by launching him head first into a mountain. At the last moment, Gohan subconsciously surrounds himself in a ball of ki and blasts the mountain, completely destroying it.

Next, Gohan recalls his time on Planet Namek. Freeza has just knocked Kuririn unconscious and into the water. Gohan wants to save him, but Freeza will not let him pass. Gohan grows enraged and attacks, pummeling Freeza and knocking him back before launching a barrage of ki attacks at the stunned emperor eventually driving him into the ground. Vegeta looks on, stunned at the boy's power and ferocity. Gohan launches a final assault and Freeza is surrounded by an exploding yellow ball of energy, quickly transforming into a fiery red explosion.

Back in the present, Gohan explains to Cell that when he loses his control, he attacks with tremendous power and ferocity that he cannot control. Gohan says that now that he has trained with his father in the Room of Spirit and Time, he is positive that he could kill Cell. Cell just laughs. Does Gohan think he can be scared off by a story like that? No. Now he resolves to make Gohan as angry as possible, just to see his latent power. He attacks Gohan, quickly knocking him to the ground, then crushes the boy's head under his foot. Kuririn pleads with Goku to rejoin the battle and fight in Gohan's place, but Goku still just stands smiling at the edge of the battle. Goku and Cell both tell Gohan to get angry, but even as Cell pummels him he does not get angry and fight back.

The reporter asks Mister Satan if Gohan stands a chance. Satan says no and that someone will have to step in and fight in his place soon. The announcer is excited! Does this mean that Satan will rejoin the battle? Suddenly, Mister Satan gets a stomach ache again and has to sit out of the fight.

Cell continues to pound on Gohan to get him angry. Suddenly, Gohan powers up and kicks Cell to the ground. Cell wipes blood off his face and smiles. No matter what it takes, he will make Gohan angry!
