The "Nameless Planet" is is the location of the God of Destruction Invitational Tournament in Dragon Ball Super. The planet is first seen in Dragon Ball Super Chapter 6, published in V-Jump on 21 November 2015 in Japan.
By the time the Nameless Planet was revealed to be the four-star Super Dragon Ball, disguised by a thin planetary crust, the anime had surpassed the manga.[1]
Overview
Champa suggests the Nameless Planet as the location for the God of Destruction Invitational Tournament because it is located in the space where Universe 6 and Universe 7 overlap, making it neutral territory. After the location is decided, he and Vados travel there and begin preparations for the tournament.[2] Vados creates a dome and simulates the fragrant atmosphere of the highlands of Planet Sorert inside it. Then she creates spectator stands and, on Champa's request, concession stands.[3]
After the tournament is finished, Bulma takes out her Super Dragon Radar to try to find the last Super Dragon Ball, and No. 18 notices that all seven balls are already gathered together. Monaka suggests looking at the problem three-dimensionally, like he does with his cosmic maps, and then Whis realizes that the Nameless Planet itself is the final Super Dragon Ball. He tells everyone to board the Cube, and as they depart the "planet", Whis destroys its exterior, revealing the four-star ball. Piccolo theorizes that the last time the Super Dragon Balls were used and the balls scattered, this one must have collided with a planetoid and thereby gained its own planetary crust.[1]
Name
"Nameless Planet" is not a proper name, but it is always given in quotes, whether in the manga the anime: 「名前のない星」(namae no nai hoshi). It is given this way in the title of Dragon Ball Super Episode 32 and in the official Closed Captions. In the anime, Champa thinks that the planet needs a name, so he decides to call it the "Nothing Planet" (なんにもない星 nan'nimo nai hoshi), but this name does not catch on, and it is never mentioned in the manga.[3]
