"The Kame-sen School's Tough Training" is the thirty-first chapter of the Dragon Ball manga series by Akira Toriyama. It was first published in Japan in the 1985 #31 issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump.
Summary
After finishing their early morning training (delivering milk), Muten Rōshi say it is time for the morning training, plowing fields. Muten Rōshi tells them to they will have to do this quickly, otherwise they cannot have breakfast. Kuririn thinks about never having to do any of this stuff at Ōrin Temple. Muten Rōshi interrupts his thought and tells them that they cannot use hoes. They must use their bare hands instead, as it is good training for the hands, arms, and legs. After a while, they finally finish, and Muten Rōshi tells them that tomorrow they will plow an even bigger field.
After eating breakfast, Muten Rōshi says that they will study until lunch. Good martial artists train their minds as well as their bodies. Goku hates this, but Kuririn thinks he will surely win at this one. They start with language, and Muten Rōshi tells Goku to read from page twelve. It is now 12:30, and the three of them are lying in hammocks, taking a nap until 1:30. We are told that "Moving well, learning well, having fun, eating well, resting well; this is the Kame-sen Style's training."
After taking a nap, they go to a construction site, and Muten Rōshi says they will have this part-time construction job. It is good training for the muscles. When they are finished working, they head to a lake. Since they just did a lot of sweating, the next part of their training is swimming. But first, Goku wants to know when Muten Rōshi is going to teach them kenpō. Muten Rōshi says there is no point in teaching martial arts if the body does not have the power to use them. Muten Rōshi tells them that he will teach them martial arts once they are strong enough to move this boulder. Muten Rōshi moves the bolder, but then Goku moves it a lot more than Muten Rōshi. Muten Rōshi laughs nervously and says that was just a little one, and points to a much bigger boulder, which he says is the real one. Goku cannot move this one, but Muten Rōshi says he can (though he does not demonstrate...).
Goku and Kuririn take off their clothes, and Muten Rōshi tells them to swim back and forth ten times. He warns them that there is a shark in the lake, but not until after they are already being chased. They finally get out, and Muten Rōshi says they will move on to the next part. He ties the boys to a tree, and tells them they will have to dodge their foe's attack. Muten Rōshi creeps over and whacks a beehive with his staff, and Kuririn and Goku try running away, but they cannot because they are tied to the tree. Muten Rōshi says that today's training is finished, but starting tomorrow, they will have to wear these 20-kilogram turtle shells on their backs.
