"Dragon Ball GT Season Two" is Funimation's second "season"-based DVD box set (of two total), presenting Dragon Ball GT television episodes 35-64 and a TV Special in a standard-definition (480p), "digitally remastered" format, originally released 10 Feb 2009 in North America. These "season" sets are both colloquially known and internally at Funimation referred to as the "Green Bricks."[1]

General Overview

Each green brick features episodes of Dragon Ball GT with a single video track shared across the three available audio options.

Regardless of the language selected: an altered English-only episode title card is displayed; altered openings feature Funimation's logo and English credits; and each episode's ending has English reversion credits unique to each episode's production.

The opening theme uses its first and second animation versions (of two total), while the ending theme uses its first two animation versions (of four total). Funimation-specific credits are featured on the opening and ending animations. All eyecatches are presented in their correct location mid-episode. No "next episode previews" are provided. The English audio (with original soundtrack) is selected by default.

Though the series is historically divided into "story arcs" in Japan, this release continues Funimation's branding of arbitrary "seasons" for a home video release, the delineations of which do not correspond to their own actual broadcast seasons from either syndication or cable broadcasts.

The Dragon Ball GT TV Special is also included as a bonus "Movie," presented with a single altered video track shared across three audio options.

The "U.S. Broadcast Audio" uses Mark Menza's score and reverts the dub track to the 2003 Broadcast version (featured on the first run of home releases in North America). There is one difference between this version and FUNimation's original broadcast version; the opening and endings are restored with the original animations featuring English covers. The English opening and ending covers premiered in these "season" sets.

Hero Profiles

As Majuub adjusts to having Buu's spirit once again united with his own, he continues to learn valuable lessons about power and responsibility. And ''sic'' when evil strikes, he is among the first to answer the call to arms. Though Majuub is instrumental in helping drive back the hordes of dead villains released from Hell by Super Android 17, like everyone else, he's virtually powerless against the fury of Omega Shenron. But as Goku's chosen successor as Protector of Earth, Majuub's not going down without a fight!

  • Pan
    • Race: ¼ Saiyan, ¾ Earthling
    • Personality: Precocious, brave, mischievous
    • Dream: To continue her family's heroic legacy
    • First Appeared in: Episode 1
    • Japanese Voice Actor: Yuko Minaguchi
    • American Voice Actor: Elise Baughman

By playing a key role in releasing the people of Earth from Baby's control, Pan once again proves her mettle in times of crisis. However, as the granddaughter of both Goku and Mr. Satan, she can still be a bit of a handful. Pan hates that her young age often keeps her off the front lines, so she dedicates herself ot honing her skills-eventually learning the family fighting secret, the Kamehameha. But despite her prowess, the young heroine is dealt a humbling blow at the hands of the Shadow Dragons.

Long ago Piccolo yearned to unleash destruction and anarchy upon Earth. Times have changed. After helping teleport all of the people of Earth to another planet, Piccolo now faces a monumental decision that he believes will spare his adopted planet further devastation and allow peace to reign forever. But for that to happen, he may need to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Kibito Kai can no longer stay on the sidelines in Other World, where he helped Goku train and re-grow his tail. As the final battle with Baby approaches, he is charged with the crucial task of finding something called the Sacred Water. It is hoped this mystical substance will free everyone under Baby's control. Kibito Kai places himself at great risk to fulfill his mission.

Goku is finally all grown up again-sort of. With the added power of his newly re-grown tail, Goku can achieve Super Saiyan Level 4, but only for short periods of time. Although this new form, an adult-sized Saiyan-Ape hybrid, is unbelievably powerful, it is incredibly taxing on Goku's still-child-sized body. But when SS4 Goku comes out to play, all bets are off. Cool, calm and composed, the fur-covered powerhouse is like a completely different person-one that even the most hardened villains fear.

After his brutal defeat and subsequent torturous possession by the evil Baby, Vegeta vows to never be left vulnerable again. Old rivalries are renewed, albeit slightly friendlier this time, as Vegeta strives to join Goku at Super Saiyan Level 4. Vegeta succeeds in the nick of time, achieving the ultimate power level right when the threat of Omega Shenron becomes most dire. But even at SS4 strength, what can the Prince of Saiyans do against the combined might of all seven Dragon Balls?

  • Gogeta

When Goku and Vegeta perform Fusion as Super Saiyan 4, they form the most incredible warrior the universe has ever seen! With the power, speed, and staimina far greater than the sum of his parts, Gogeta makes his stand as the last line of defense for the entire universe. Unlike their individual SS4 personas, Gogeta exhibits clear signs of Goku's and Vegeta's personalities underneath. Vegeta's ferocity is combined with Goku's playfulness, making the fused fighter an unpredictable and deadly prankster. But Gogeta's playtime is cut short when Goku's pint-sized body cannot handle the power within. Without Gogeta could the universe be doomed to annihilation?

Enemy Profiles

What happens when the two most heinous evil scientists in the galaxy meet each other in the afterlife? All Hell breaks loose-literally! Dr. Gero (creator of Cell and the evil Androids) and Dr. Myuu (creator of General Rilldo and Baby) have a plan that will not only exact revenge on their hated enemies, but also give them control of the universe. Gero has built a new Android 17 in Hell, and with Myuu's help they open the gates of Hell to merge their creation with the original Android 17 on Earth. The result is the most advanced Machine Mutant ever.

Super Android 17 is an ever more cold, ruthless and efficient killer than before, plus he has backup. With the gateway opened, dozens of dead villains return to wreak havoc on an unsuspecting Earth. But 17 has a history of betrayal. Has this glitch been fixed in the new model? Or will Super 17 turn on his masters before their nefarious plan comes to fruition?

Over the past several decades, the Dragon Balls have been used far more often than they were intended to be. Every time a wish is made, whether for good or evil, energy builds within them. As long as the Positive Energy outweighs the Negative Energy, all is well. But overuse of the mystical orbs increased the amount of Negative Energy literally to the breaking point, awakening the long-dormant Black Smoke Dragon. This cigar-chomping serpent refuses to grant wishes, and explains that the Negative Energy has created new dragons within all of the Dragon Balls, each born of a specific wish. The Black Smoke Dragon then scatters these Shadow Dragons to inflict their evil across the globe.

Haze Shenron is the Dragon of Pollution and possesses the Two Star Dragon Ball. He uses his powers to create putrid smog that settles over the land, draining anyone coming into contact with it of all their energy. He was born when Goku used the Dragon Balls many years ago to wish Bora back to life.

Rage Shenron possesses the Five Star Dragon Ball. Despite his small size, Rage Shenron carries a shocking power: electricity! He creates a slimy substance which draws electrical energy out of any object it touches and transfers it to his body as strength. Rage Shenron was born when Goku's friends wished him back to life after Vegeta landed on planet Earth.

The Six Star Dragon, controller of water and wind, Oceanus Shenron dons the persona of Princess Oto, whom the residents of a small fishing village worship as a deity. The Princess is a harsh and demanding mistress, but she becomes even more dangerous when she's embarrassed-like when Goku asks what wish she was born of.

Naturon Shenron retains the Seven Star Dragon Ball and was born from a wish that reversed an evil act done by Vegeta many years ago. Possessing the power of earth, he delights in causing earthquakes and watching cities crumble before him. However, behind Naturon's fearsome façade, lies a tiny-yet startling-secret.

Eis Shenron, Dragon of Ice, and Nuova Shenron, Dragon of Fire, are twin brothers. Eis holds the Three Star Dragon Ball, while Nuova guards Goku's beloved Four Star Ball. On their own, either would be a challenge for Goku, but he's forced to face them both at the same time—with Pan's life on the line. However, one of the Shadow Dragons may learn that some bonds are stronger than blood.

Unlike the other six, Syn Shenron, guardian of the One Star Ball, does not have an elemental power. His is the power of evil itself, making him the strongest of the Shadow Dragons. Syn absorbs the other Dragon Balls into his body, assuming the powers of each of his evil comrades. But the collection of all seven Balls does not summon the Black Smoke Dragon, or even the Eternal Dragon, Shenron. Instead, Syn becomes an entirely new beast: Omega Shenron! With the abilities of all the Shadow Dragons and the near-limitless power of the Dragon Balls at his disposal, Omega poses the greatest threat the universe has ever known.
