Summary
As the fight between Granolla and the Saiyans heats up, the Sugarians decide to evacuate their city until things calm down.
On the battlefield, Vegeta warns Granolla that tricks like fusion and clones will not work against him, but Granolla says he does not need those tricks; he only used a clone to save his strength for his ultimate goal: Vegeta's boss, Freeza. Vegeta is amused that Granolla thinks he still works for Freeza; he tells him that he left Freeza's employ a long time ago and now considers him to be a foe. Granolla does not believe him and laughs, accusing Vegeta of being willing to betray his boss to save his skin. Oatmil chimes in on Granolla's earpiece to remind him that the other Saiyan made a similar claim, but Granolla is unconvinced. Vegeta tells him that whatever he believes, when this planet was invaded, Vegeta was only a child, and it had nothing to do with him and Goku. Granolla, however, is still determined to have his revenge against the Saiyans. Vegeta is unsurprised by this stubbornness and takes it as permission to fight at full strength. He powers up into Super Saiyan Blue and tells Granolla to be prepared to perish along with the history of his race.
Vegeta channels his power into the ground, kicking up rocks all around Granolla and then exploding them. From a distance, Oil is surprised, Goku's unconscious body is disturbed, and the evacuating Sugarians experience some turbulence. Granolla observes that Vegeta's destructive power is lacking, so he is trying to make up for it with quantity. He then offers to demonstrate the gulf between them, exploding a rock behind Vegeta and then delivering a hard blow to his gut. Vegeta is frustrated; he manages to counter with a blast, but Granolla still has the upper hand. He knocks Vegeta back repeatedly, forcing him into a lake, where Vegeta manages to hide. Granolla asks Oatmil to assist his aim, and Oatmil suggests waiting for Vegeta to emerge where there are no obstacles. They wait, and when Vegeta nears the surface, Oatmil gives the signal, and Granolla fires, forcing Vegeta back until he is propelled out of the water.
On the shore, Vegeta recovers, standing up, and Granolla tells him that his people are much stronger than he expected. Vegeta thinks he is a little too impressed with himself, but Granolla is confident that he is the strongest in the universe, and tells Vegeta that this struggle is pointless. Vegeta admits that Granolla is stronger at this moment, but insists he is still going to win. Granolla thinks that his ego is getting in the way, but Vegeta tells him to be quiet and keep fighting.
Meanwhile, Goku wakes up, still feeling pain in his heart where Granolla hit him. He wonders where Granolla went, and then notices the battle in the distance, and seems surprised that Vegeta is fighting Granolla. After a feint, Vegeta dodges a blast from Granolla, allowing it to strike the ruins of the Cerealian city. Vegeta mocks Granolla's distress at the destruction of his precious memories, and Granolla vows that he will die.
Vegeta informs Granolla that he can tell that this power of his was only acquired recently. Granolla asks how he can tell, and Vegeta thanks him for confirming it, and then explains that he is obviously not accustomed to using it and his lack of battle experience is showing. He asks Granolla what he has been doing since he acquired this power, and whether he has done any training. Granolla tells him there is no need, attacking again. Vegeta reminds him that he may be stronger, but that does not guarantee Vegeta will lose. Granolla continues to insist that his superior strength guarantees he will win, but Vegeta tells him that the outcome of a battle is never set in stone; that is why he loves fighting. Granolla tells him to be quiet and asks how many lives were sacrificed for his love of carnage. Vegeta reminds him that rankings only reflect a moment in time; as an example, he is already stronger than he was a few minutes ago; this battle has allowed him to grow. Granolla thinks this is a good reason to finish it now, and he aims for Vegeta's gut again, knocking him back to his normal form, causing Vegeta to cough up blood.
Laughing, Vegeta tells Granolla that it has been a long time since he has felt like this. There is no planet to protect, no people to save; only this battle, just the kind of thing that will get a battle-obsessed Saiyan's blood up. Vegeta powers up and then appears to burst into flame, knocking Granolla aside. In the distance, Oil notices that the battle has moved yet again, and Goku notices that Vegeta's ki has changed; it is divine ki, but not the ordinary kind. Back on the battlefield, Granolla stares in shock as the flames resolve to reveal Vegeta's new transformation. He tells Granolla that a God of Destruction taught him that power derived solely from instinct[a] is limitless.
