Summary
Granolla asks Vegeta what he means when he says his power has no limits. Vegeta attacks, grabbing Granolla by his scarf and telling him that his head is getting too big; he needs to be humbled. Vegeta warns him to get ready for some tough love and then headbutts him, sending him flying. Granolla recovers and the fight resumes; Vegeta has the upper hand, but Granolla manages to land a solid blow to the gut. Vegeta then informs Granolla that the more his desire to fight grows, the stronger he becomes.
Vegeta throws Granolla into the ruined Cerealian city, following him to kick him through the ruins. Granolla wonders how Vegeta can get stronger by taking damage, and what a God of Destruction even is. Vegeta explains that their universe has one, and that is who taught him this power. Granolla thinks this means Vegeta was granted his power, but Vegeta clarifies that the power is his own; it is now being awakened for the first time. Granolla does not seem to be happy about the prospect that he might have drawn out Vegeta's power, and he refuses to believe that Vegeta could be stronger than him. He fires at Vegeta and hits him directly, but Vegeta is unharmed and says this is just making his battle lust grow. Granolla continues to fire but Vegeta takes his attacks head-on and then jumps up to attack directly. Before his chop can land, Granolla calls up a barrier to protect himself.
Granolla asks Vegeta why he did not dodge, and whether this is like Goku's ability to dodge automatically. Vegeta tells him not to compare that technique to his; Kakarrot's body may have a mind of its own, but he is pure ego. He suggests Granolla call this technique Ultra Ego. Then Vegeta attacks, breaking Granolla's barrier and kicking him in the face, knocking him through the ruins again.
On the mountain, Monaito realizes that his hunch was correct: Granolla is fighting someone, but who? He wonders if it could be Freeza.
Back on the battlefield, Granolla says that Vegeta is not Freeza, and there is no way he is going to lose to a Saiyan grunt. Vegeta informs him that Planet Vegeta was not destroyed by a meteor; it was Freeza. The Saiyans are his victims, too. Granolla asks if this is true, and Oatmil tells him that it certainly contradicts what he was told. Granolla tells Vegeta that it does not matter if he is telling the truth; that is no reason for him to call off his revenge against the Saiyans. He punches Vegeta's forehead, and Vegeta does not dodge. He tells Granolla to believe what he wants, and that he definitely does not want his pity. Then he kicks Granolla back toward the ruins, and Granolla uses his scarf and a nearby tower to recover himself, landing on a platform.
Oatmil continues, telling Granolla that it looks like the Saiyans were victims too. Granolla says that does not change the fact that they killed his people, but Oatmil counters that these two Saiyans did not appear to have any knowledge of that. Frustrated, Granolla takes off his goggle and tosses it into the forest, saying that he does not need Oatmil anymore now that he is the strongest.
Granolla descends to face Vegeta, who notices his red right eye, asking if that is the mark of his people. Granolla reminds Vegeta of what he said about him not being accustomed to his power. Vegeta reaffirms that opinion, saying he has not seen enough battle. Granolla says he will have to make up for it in this fight, and informs Vegeta that he is not the only one who gets stronger as he fights. He uses telekinesis to uproot the tower, tossing it at Vegeta, who catches it and breaks it into several pieces. Vegeta asks Granolla why he is willing to destroy the ruins now. Granolla ignores the question, using telekinesis again to charge the pieces of the tower, sending them flying at Vegeta and damaging his armor. Vegeta removes his broken armor and tells Granolla to bring it on.
Some distance away, Oatmil expresses disappointment and then beeps to summon Granolla's spaceship. The ship flies to where the goggle lays on the ground, beaming it up into the ship, and then the ship flies toward the battlefield.
Vegeta and Granolla continue to fight until Vegeta takes a serious wound to his chest. He insists that he can grow even stronger, but then Granolla fires a beam at him and he barely manages to dodge. Granolla asks him if he is hitting his limit, and Vegeta warns him against underestimating Saiyans.
Meanwhile, Goku is beginning to recover from his loss, and he wonders what is happening with Vegeta; his power is waning while Granolla's skills seem to be sharpening. Goku wonders if Granolla is getting the hang of battle, and realizes he will not be able to hang out on the sidelines much longer. He places a charged hand to his chest, encouraging his body to heal.[a]
Back on the battlefield, Vegeta is losing steam and his vision is blurring. He realizes he has taken too much damage. Granolla takes aim, and Vegeta is frustrated that he is still able to fight. He decides he has no choice but to end it now, powering up and forming a planet-destroying ball. He tells Granolla he will need to stop it himself to save his planet, and then tosses it. Suddenly, Granolla's left eye turns red as well, and he fires at the blast with both hands, destroying Vegeta's attack.
The shockwave hits Goku, Oil, Monaito, and Granolla's ship, which is still headed toward the battlefield. Vegeta collapses on the ground, having spent the last of his reserves on that attack. Granolla thanks him for drawing out his own latent power.
At the Heatas' ship, Maki contacts Oil and asks what just happened, and whether he is okay. Oil tells her he is fine; Granolla was just fighting back. Elec is impressed; he was sure Granolla would lose quickly, but this works out better for them; they have more time to look for the Dragon Balls. Gas informs them that the Dragon Radar is working; they have nearly reached the location of the first ball. Elec cannot wait to see these balls that will grant any wish.
