Summary
Vegeta's battle with Granolla continues, and Granolla has Vegeta on the ropes. He asks Vegeta what is wrong, why his attacks are not doing it for him anymore, but Vegeta has no answer. Granolla fires rapid blasts at him, causing him to lose his Ultra Ego form. This leads Granolla to believe that the fate of the Saiyans has been decided, but Vegeta grabs his foot, informing him that he is the master of his own fate. Granolla advises Vegeta to learn when he has lost, aiming a punch, but then Super Saiyan Blue Goku steps in, punching Granolla away.
Granolla is surprised that Goku is still standing. Goku tells Vegeta that he will take over from here, but then Vegeta kicks him out of the way and says that he will not be taking over. Then Vegeta punches Goku, adding that there is no one else he would rather defeat. Goku thinks it is a weird moment for Vegeta to be backsliding like this, but Vegeta reminds him that he has only agreed to fight alongside him when they had something to protect. Goku asks him whether his own life is not worth protecting, but Vegeta says he would rather die than team up with him. Granolla attacks again, aiming for Vegeta's vitals, and Goku interferes again, throwing off the hit with a rush of air. Vegeta falls unconscious in the distance.
Granolla asks Goku how he managed to react in time, and Goku tells him that his habit of targeting their vitals will not work on him any more; he has it all figured out. Granolla thinks he should call Goku's bluff and movies quickly to attack him from behind. Goku goes down, back in his normal form, and Granolla suggests he should have stayed down the first time, that he should wait his turn; he will be back shortly to extract the location of Freeza. But as he walks away, Goku blasts him in the back. In his Super Saiyan Blue form again, Goku tells Granolla that move was not going to work on him forever. Granolla is perplexed, but he attacks again, aiming for Goku's vitals. Goku catches his arm and blasts him away, but Granolla rebounds, observing that Goku is shifting his body at the last minute to protect his vitals. Goku explains that there is a small pause between the moment when Granolla locks on the target and the moment he strikes. He cannot dodge the attack completely but he can avoid the worst damage. Granolla is impressed, but he notes that Goku is still relying on a defensive strategy. He cannot win without his own attacks. Goku admits this is a problem.
In the distance, Vegeta regains consciousness and realizes that Goku is fighting Granolla. He arrives just in time to watch Granolla knock Goku out of his Super Saiyan Blue form again. Goku admits to Vegeta that his body will not last much longer. Vegeta says he is tagging in again, and Goku wonders why he is so determined to do this on his own. Vegeta tells him to think of it as stubborn Saiyan pride if he wants. Goku just wants to know if Vegeta can really beat him. Not far away, Granolla is damaged and struggling for breath. Vegeta thinks that since this power is new to Granolla, he will not last much longer either. He again asks Goku to let him do this alone, so Goku agrees, telling him not to die.
As Vegeta flies up, Granolla asks if he is still fighting alone, which he finds mystifying. Vegeta thinks that Granolla's obsession with revenge is rotting his brain. Is there really nothing more to his life? He invites Granolla to hit him with everything he's got, and then he transforms into Ultra Ego again. Granolla is confused; he thought Vegeta had already hit his limit, but Vegeta reminds him that this power has no limits, and then he attacks, forcing Granolla toward the Sugarian city.
Granolla begs Vegeta not to fight him here, and Vegeta reminds him that he supposedly does not care about anything but his revenge. Granolla attacks again, reiterating his desire to fight elsewhere, and Vegeta grabs his arm and bites it. Granolla calls him an animal, but Vegeta laughs, noting that Granolla cannot use his rapid-fire technique here. Granolla points at his face and says that at this range, it is safe enough. He fires, hitting Vegeta in the neck and reducing him to his normal form again. Out of breath, he sits down and asks whether Vegeta has learned his lesson yet. Then he notices movement not far away. It is a Sugarian mother, desperately trying to protect her child.
Granolla is suddenly reminded of the Saiyan invasion of Planet Cereal. He was running from the Great Apes' destructive attack on his town when his mother called out to him, relieved to find him safe. She hugged him close, and he explained to her that the others had helped him get away. Then they heard a noise, and looked up in fear to find... Back in the present, Granolla sees the Sugarian mother and child cringing in fear, and realizes the full weight of his dilemma.
Vegeta tells Granolla that his grudge against the Saiyans is justified, but asks him if he is not repeating history by trying to eradicate the Saiyans. The Cerealians were never savage, were they? Granolla tells Vegeta that this is nonsense; they were always peaceful, but the Saiyans took everything from them, and he will never be able to move past that. He attacks Vegeta once again, knocking him outside the Sugarians' feeble barrier. Granolla charges out of the city, and when he reaches Vegeta, he tells him he has finally found his resolve, and he is prepared to die here. He will use every bit of his power to make sure Vegeta says dead, and his revenge against Freeza will have to wait for Hell.
Vegeta realizes that he will not be able to defend against this suicide attack, and he apologizes to Beerus for not being able to fully revert to his old, callous self. The power of Destruction is still beyond him. He stands up to accept the fate of the Saiyans while Goku watches from the distance. Alarmed, he rushes to the scene, but before he can reach them, Granolla's ship flies past him, carrying Monaito, who is shocked to recognize Goku. Monaito asks Oatmil if that is the Saiyan Granolla was fighting, and Oatmil confirms, but tells him there is another. Monaito cannot believe the coincidence.
Looking down at the battlefield, Monaito spots Granolla. Goku arrives at the scene, but he cannot get close enough to do anything. Just as Granolla is about to fire the suicide attack, Monaito calls out to him, telling him to stop. Granolla asks why he has come, and in that moment, Goku sneaks up behind Granolla, knocking him aside and telling him not to be stupid. He asks Vegeta what he was thinking, but Vegeta only smiles. Granolla is annoyed, and also displeased that Oatmil has interfered again. Monaito emerges from the ship, and Goku and Vegeta are surprised to find a Namekian here.
Granolla asks Monaito why he came to interfere, and tells him to stand back and let him finish this. Monaito informs him that he is wrong about a few things. Indeed, Monaito's own lies are responsible for this scene. Forty years past, it was a Saiyan who saved them, and his name was Bardock.
Goku is confused, Vegeta seems surprised, and Granolla cannot believe his ears. He was saved by a Saiyan?!
