Summary
"The Tenka’ichi Budōkai draws ever closer. Those who plan to participate have been finalizing their training and getting into the spirit." Gohan, Vegeta, Piccolo, Kuririn, Goten, Trunks, Videl, Mister Satan (reading a magazine), and Goku all continue their training. "And so, it has begun at last!!! The Tenka’ichi Budōkai, that is, after such a truly long time." Most everyone is headed to the tournament in a plane being flown by Bulma. Chi-Chi asks Yamcha if he’ll be participating, but he says not this time. In the front row of the plane, Gohan doubts his father will recognize Kuririn with his hair, which makes Kuririn chuckle.
In the gravity room at Capsule Corp., Vegeta is training and Trunks is with him. Vegeta tells Trunks he should leave, since 150G is probably too much for him. Trunks says Goten called last night to say he was entering the Tenka'ichi Budōkai, so he has to enter too. Trunks says this is too hard, and so he decides to turn Super Saiyan. Vegeta is shocked, as Trunks enjoys being able to run around now. Vegeta wonders how long he has been able to do this, and how easily he attained this legendary form. Vegeta stops Trunks and asks him if Son Gohan's little brother is a Super Saiyan as well. Vegeta thinks this is becoming "Super Saiyan bargain sale", and then tells Trunks to attack him. Trunks thinks his father is too strong, but Vegeta says he will take him to the amusement park if he hits him in the face just once.

Gohan then asks Vegeta, Goten, and Trunks not to turn Super Saiyan at the Budōkai, with Bulma thinking that’s a good idea since they’ll be on TV and could be recognized from the battle with Cell. Vegeta thinks he could destroy all the TVs, but Gohan says he mustn’t. Vegeta relents, though, saying he’ll win either way. The boys are okay with that, too. At the Budōkai, there’s a huge crowd, and they don’t see Goku anywhere. Mister Satan arrives, and the crowd rushes toward him. He greets his fans, and they start chanting "SATAN" for him. An interviewer starts talking to Mister Satan and he tells her that he has a 120% chance of winning. The interviewer tries to ask Videl about her haircut, but she ignores it. Goten then spots Piccolo, and Gohan goes over and asks him if he’s seen his father, but he hasn’t. Just then, Goku lands, with Uranai Baba beside him.
Trunks goes all out, but Vegeta dodges every time. Trunks finally manages to scratch his cheek, and Vegeta counters by knocking Trunks across the room. Vegeta never said he would not counter, and Trunks starts to cry. Vegeta tells him not to cry, he will take him to the amusement park, but first he asks who is stronger between Trunks and Son Gohan's little brother. Trunks is, just by a little bit though, because Goten is a year younger and cannot fly. Vegeta is pissed about these kids being so strong. Meanwhile, Videl is starting to float a lot, and Gohan tells her there is not much left he can teach her. But she wants to be able to fly as good as Goten, so she will keep coming back until then. Gohan whispers to Goten not to fly so fast when Videl is around.

Pretty much everyone starts to tear up, and runs to hug him, except Piccolo, Vegeta, No. 18, and the two boys. Baba says she’ll be back in twenty-four hours, and heads off. Goku then wonders if that lookalike is his son, but Goten just hides behind Chi-Chi. Piccolo suggests that they all hurry up and sign in. At the registration table Trunks is annoyed to find out that there’s now a Youth Division, for everyone under fifteen, although Kuririn is happy to hear that... The fighters all head inside, and everyone wishes them their best.
They touch back down on the ground and Videl says her ability to fly needs to be a secret from her father, because she wants to surprise him while fighting. He also would not like that she is going to a boy's house. She is only allowed to get involved with a boy if he is stronger than her father, but there are no boys like that... Gohan asks if she has ever fought with her dad, and she has not. Gohan thinks that she does not realize she is actually stronger than Mister Satan. He asks if she would be shocked if her father was defeated, but Videl says he needs to lose, he has been getting caught up in himself, and frolicking with lots of women since her mother died. Videl wants to get back to training now, but first asks who taught Gohan martial arts. "A person I know, and my dead father." Videl figures his father was really strong, and Goten says their father is coming back for the Tenka'ichi Budōkai. Videl figures he is not really dead, but he ran off, and he is coming to see them at the Budōkai.

"Videl-san was no ordinary girl after all, and she was able to fly freely after just ten days. Thanks to this, Goten and I were able to get into serious training alone. The day of the Tenka'ichi Budōkai, where father is also going to be, is near...!!"
