Yuzun is a fictional character in the Dragon Ball franchise, debuting as prisoner and escapee of the Galactic Patrol in chapter 50 of the Dragon Ball Super manga's original "Galactic Patrol Prisoner arc", originally published 20 July 2019 in the September 2019 issue of Shueisha's V-Jump magazine.
Biography

Yuzun is a convict and escapee of the Galactic Patrol,[1] loyal to Saganbo and by proxy Moro. With his power of transformation, Saganbo believes Yuzun to be "unbeatable" in said transformed state. Yuzun is ultimately killed by his own attack while battling and attempting to escape from Vegeta on Planet Yardrat.[2]
Dragon Ball Super
When Moro's third wish on Planet Namek lets loose all convicts locked up at the Galactic Prison, Yuzun groups up with Shimorekka, Yunba, Koiter, Seven-Three, and others under the command of Saganbo.[1] The group travels to Namek, where the lesser underlings do battle with Son Goku and Vegeta until Moro begins sapping their energy.[1] Saganbo promises to lead Moro to planets with lots of energy, and to send his men to do a bit of scouting.[3]
Yuzun later arrives on Planet Yardrat with a group of Moro's henchmen intent on securing its energy for their boss. Their arrival interrupts Vegeta's training; Iriko points Yuzun out by name as one of Saganbo's men. Recognizing the Galactic Patrolman from back on Namek, Yuzun attempts to contact Moro, but an unintentionally-large attack from Vegeta stops him. Yuzun screams for his lackeys to attack, but Vegeta handily counters them both. Yuzun proceeds to transform into a monster-like form, which Vegeta comments he has seen variations on before. Despite Yuzun's initial confidence, Vegeta effortless overpowers him at each pass (including catching an entire building throw at him). Yuzun then pumps the top of a building full of energy to toss at Vegeta, who once again reflects it back. As Yuzun then deflects his own attack back up into the sky, Vegeta rushes in with a kick to the gut, pushing Yuzun to the edge of a cliff. Vegeta gives Yuzun a chance to surrender to the Galactic Patrol, but Yuzun laughs, explaining that Moro's next target is not here at Yardrat, but is some planet called Earth. Noticing that this flusters Vegeta, Yuzun takes the opportunity to confirm with his goons that an escape ship is ready. Yuzun cackles his farewell atop the ship, but in that very moment, the powered-up building top from before falls back down toward the planet, crushing the spaceship (and henchmen) in its path. Out in space, Moro can sense the growing potential of Vegeta, and the fact that Yuzun is now dead; Saganbo is surprised, believing Yuzun to have been unbeatable in his transformed state.[2]
Name
Yuzun's name is likely sourced from yuzu, a small citrus fruit and plant, adapting the syllables in katakana as ユズ (yuzu) and adding an ン (n) ending. Considering the character's design elements and specific type of transformation ability, this pun source would nicely fall in line with that of Zarbon: the pomelo, the largest citrus fruit (called ザボン zabon in Japanese) in the family Rutaceae, of which yuzu is also a member. Incidentally, the Chinese source word (柚子 yòuzi) now refers to the pomelo itself.
A similar name was used for a palette-swap of Zarbon named Yūzu (ユーズ Yūzu) in the 1991 Nintendo Famicom video game, Dragon Ball Z II: The Violent God, Freeza!!
Production
Yuzun is an original creation for the Galactic Patrol Prisoner arc of the Dragon Ball Super manga by Toyotarō. While explicit details surrounding Yuzun's design, name, and characteristics have not been divulged, the parallels with Zarbon in aspects such as his necklace and in particular his transformation are quite clearly intentional.
Performance
Thus far, Yuzun appears exclusively in the Dragon Ball Super manga; as such, no voice has been assigned.
Notable Appearances
Thus far, Yuzun appears exclusively in the Dragon Ball Super manga: once in chapter 50, and in a more prominent role facing off against Vegeta in chapter 55.
