"The Mysterious Dragon Balls Appear!! Goku Becomes a Child?!" is the first episode of the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball GT. The episode first aired in Japan on Fuji TV on 07 February 1996, receiving a ratings share of 19.6%. The episode was written by Aya Matsui and directed by Osamu Kasai.

Synopsis

It has been five years since Son Goku left the Tenka'ichi Budōkai to train Uub as his new pupil. As Uub's training ends, he participates in a sparring match with his master. While Goku battles his student, Pilaf, Shuu, and Mai secretly enter God's palace in order to steal a new set of Dragon Balls. This set of balls, which was made by the Namekian who would become God of Earth before he expunged the evil within him, is much more powerful than those that were created later. After finding these Black Star Dragon Balls, Pilaf summons a red Shenlong. Goku interrupts Pilaf while he is in the process of making his wish, startling Pilaf into accidentally wishing that Goku become small enough for him to beat. The dragon grants this wish, turning Goku into a child. Afterwards, the balls scatter, but, instead of being spread throughout the world like the normal balls, the Black Star balls are scattered throughout the galaxy. In addition to this, the use of these balls comes with a dangerous consequence: if they are not gathered within one year's time, the planet that the wish was made on will explode!
