"Arale-chan Comes Charging In" is the second individual tankōbon volume of the Japanese manga series Dr. Slump. This volume comprises chapters 13-21 and 23-26 as originally serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump, 1980 #17 to 1980 #30. The volume was first available in print on 09 October 1980. The entire volume is printed in greyscale.
Chapter 22 was moved to Volume 3 to avoid splitting up the two-part story "The Great Strawberry-Panties Caper" at the end of this volume. This chapter order is maintained in all subsequent collected volumes, namely the Big Volumes and the Kanzenban.
Introduction
The volume's introduction from author Akira Toriyama is printed on the front flap of the dust cover and accompanied by a small color illustration.
I'm a real country bumpkin, living as I always have in my hometown. I'm no fan of the big city, where there are more people than trees... but!! Between Mothra flying around in spring, Gamera strolling the beaches in summer, Anguirus in fall for sure, and mammoths having snowball fights in winter... can you believe this countryside? It's morning in Penguin Village. Eyes still heavy with sleep, I grip the steering wheel for dear life and head to the airport, for a direct air shipment straight from the source.
At any rate, take a look!
— Akira Toriyama
Viz includes their own English translation of Toriyama's words on the first page of their print and digital editions with the illustration printed in greyscale.
