Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is an upcoming "enhanced" version of the first story arc from 2015's original version of the Dragon Ball Super television series, produced by Toei Animation and set for broadcast in Fall 2026.
Plot
Peace has once again returned to the Earth, where its heroes are enjoying a quiet life. However Beerus, the God of Destruction, has awoken after a 39 year slumber. Having had a dream about "Super Saiyan God", he sets out in search of this mysterious Saiyan. After visiting Kaiō, and eventually ending up on Earth, Son Goku must find a way to summon the power of "Super Saiyan God" and battle the irritable god before he destroys the Earth!
History
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus was the final major announcement during the "Genkidamatsuri" event held 25 January 2026 at the Makuhari Messe convention center outside of Tokyo, Japan, as well as live streamed online internationally.[1]
Alongside Dragon Ball franchise producer Akio Iyoku and voice actress Masako Nozawa, voice actor Koichi Yamadera was welcomed on stage for the announcement. A trailer was played showcasing enhanced visuals edited from the original version of the show, as well as entirely new shots; the trailer was also later shared online as its own separate video.[2]
Following the event, a new official website for the project was launched, which contained both Japanese- and English-language versions of the first key visual, along with an overview of the project and a respective story recap:[3]
