Dragon Ball Super Bonus Chapter 1 (特別編 Tokubetsuhen; "Special Edition") is an extra chapter of the Dragon Ball Super manga series by Toyotarō. It was first published in Japan on 18 July 2015 in the Jump Victory Carnival 2015 Official Guidebook.
Synopsis
A little bit before the story in Dragon Ball Super...
Northern Kaiō's planet has been destroyed due to Cell's explosion. Muri from Planet Namek has joined Kaiō at the end of the Serpentine Road to summon Porunga. Kaiō apologies for asking Muri to come all this way, but the Namekian says it is no problem. Kaiō debates what to do with his wish to restore his planet, including items like a dedicated racing area and a more "gorgeous"-type feeling. Kaiō also wants to be comfortable and says the ten-times normal gravity will not do.
Son Goku suddenly appears behind Kaiō and exclaims that would be no good for his training! Kaiō asks why Goku is here, who responds he showed up because he heard Kaiō was restoring his planet. Goku says hello to Porunga and says the planet should be exactly the same as before. Porunga says he understands, and repeats the wish back to the group. Kaiō turns around and gasps in horror as the planet is restored back to normal. Goku comments that he was in the middle of farming and should get back before Chi-Chi notices, and bids them farewell with a smile. Kaiō drops to his knees as Muri collects the Dragon Balls, now turned back to stone.

Notes

- At each year's Jump Victory Carnival, a special guidebook is produced that all attendees receive. Within this guidebook is booth information, promotions for upcoming products, as well as short manga chapters from Shueisha's team of authors. In previous guidebooks, Toyotarō had contributed Dragon Ball Heroes: Victory Mission bonus chapters; with that series on hiatus, for the 2015 guidebook, he contributed this special Dragon Ball Super manga chapter.
- The 2015 Jump Victory Carnival was first held 01 July 2015, placing this special chapter's release between the first and second regular chapters being serialized in V-Jump.
- The chapter addresses the oft-criticized/questioned fact that Kaiō's planet was seemingly never restored after Cell's explosion.
- The chapter was later compiled in the first collected volume of the Dragon Ball Super manga, released in print 04 April 2016 and digitally 02 May 2016 in Japan.
Variations
- Due the different print sizes between the Jump Victory Carnival 2015 Official Guidebook and standard Dragon Ball Super tankōbon, there is slightly more horizontal image of the pages in the original printing, compared to slightly more vertical image of the pages in the collected volume release. Text was set in the collected edition improperly, with bubbles on the right side of the page having their text placed too far to the left. This placement error is present in both the digital and print versions of the bonus chapter.
- The original Jump Victory Carnival 2015 Official Guidebook printing of the chapter features additional splash text which was later removed in the collected edition reprint. Text on the first page states (TBD), while sidebar text on the second page states (TBD).
